I can get a ticket at the movie theatre for $14.50...

*inb4 somebody compares this to take out vs delivery

It's probably because you can have multiple people watch it at once. Even still, that is a lot for a rental.
That one bloke with a haggard smirk, whereabouts unknown, puttin in that cloak and dagger work.

That's how rentals while still in theaters has been the last 4 years
Dune II I'm guessing?

Hell I could buy the ultra blu-ray 4K edition for practically that price and just wait for it to release. That is batshit crazy for a rental in my opinion.

It's a shame we lost our last physical renter in the area just a couple years ago. You could rent brand new blu-ray's for a night for like $3. If they were older than 6 months old they got moved to the middle and were dirt cheap (even free if you rented a new movie) and you got to keep them 5 days.

probably because it's still in theaters

Hmm... well I guess I can either keep waiting until it leaves theatres which I imagine won't be much longer and hope for a quick price drop.

Or just go to the fucking theatres. I can't even remember the last time I went. Maybe John Wick?

how much is it to buy it?

It currently PVOD (Premium). Wait for VOD. Or go to the theater as it should be seen.
Currently playing: Cyberpunk 2077
If it was cheap they'd lose too much in ticket sales. I wouldn't pay over $4 for any rental.
This is where cool people write stuff.

Where exactly do these streaming services think this money is coming from? Rent is through the roof, groceries and medicine get more expensive by the day, and the general public trend is to save money where you can. I also heard that they were massively butthurt that Dune 2 didnt hit $1b at theaters (it was close). They claimed that people were pirating it, but its not like it was out on streaming.

They tried to sell a Blu-ray copy of The Meg 2 at Safeway for freaking $40. I would expect to see a boom in VPN services over the next few years if they dont bring prices back down to where the public says they need to be.

it's less than 2 movie tickets so it's a good deal unless you're watching it alone

That price is only temporary for people who won't watch in the theater and can't wait a few more weeks until it is a $5 rental. Relax.

Also, pretty sure they are happy with the performance of Dune 2. I want a credible source.
