But I've never seen homicide as an official charge. And I've looked up a lot of inmates in this state. I've only seen murder and manslaughter
"Homicide" is a blanket term that includes both criminal and non-criminal acts. For example, if you kill in self defense that's considered a justifiable homicide. Or if someone dies in a car accident that's your fault, it's a homicide and you will probably be legally responsible, but under most circumstances it's not a crime.
