It's like blacklight theater without props. The ad agency probably said, "Don't worry, western gamers will get this."

I am almost completely positive the reason why just so many of us went into kingdom hearts 1 blind during it's release is because of that awesome commercial with simple and clean playing and "you never know who you will run into next" *sneaks a shot of sephiroth in there alongside disney characters to really get the "ok what the hell is this it looks amazing" energy* (this alongside many other squaresoft commercials aired constantly during WWF raw is war):
