What the FUCK my PS5 just decided to have an insane critical failure

It turned itself on at some point, decided the controllers weren't going to connect, WOULD NOT TURN OFF, then says it needs me to REINSTALL THE FUCKING OS?? and format everything!! WTF??

It's probably not as scary as you think, OS could be partitioned separately from user data.

Literally the only option is to factory reset. There are 7 options, and they're all unselectable, including the factory reset one. Luckily there was an 8th option that was also factory reset for some reason.

That sounds like a bad time. Hope the reset ends up working for it.

Also hope you had that PS+ Cloud storage backup shit and that it was working properly. (I had PS+ but one time when my PS4 died the fucking console wasn't actually uploading my fucking saves so I lost months of shit >:[ )

I have cloud saves, but when my PS4 shat the bed it was just about healthy enough to just transfer everything over by plugging it into the same router.

Thanks, it did work but I'm pretty sure I permanently lost hours of saved video clips, like seriously what the fuck happened I wasn't even using it and it turned itself on just to die and somehow lose all of the software that was on it. I'm assuming most of my saves were backed up, but I guess I'll see when I finish downloading shit. At least it wasn't my PS4, it still has P.T. and like you said it's unreliable with cloud saving. Sorry that happened, a similar thing happened to my ps3 because my brother kept yanking out the damn cord.
