I played the PC version way back when. But I didnt play much since the settlement stuff kinda annoyed me.

I usually go with someone great at hacking and lockpicking but wanna try something new.

Given how easy it is to get power armor, maybe a character focused on that, heavy weapons and explosives. Just make sure to be able to take the Aquaboy/girl perk so you can traverse all of Boston's waterways without pulling your hair out in rad-accumulating frustration. I think all my characters end up taking that as soon as possible, lol.

Not sure what kinda character Im building but I am enjoying this more than I did years ago. The settlement stuff feels more fun this time around.

Your build isn't super important, since everything is tied to Perks instead of Skills.

Doesn't take a lot of effort to make yourself good at everything.

I like pistols, lock pick, hack, and demolition.

I am addicted to cigarettes and alcohol. I kind of like having an addiction, adds a layer for searching loot.

I disagree.

Starfield has no interesting characters and everyone's a boy scout. If you try to be evil somewhere, a planet 40 light years away will know about it and God help you if you have to go complete a quest there.

Dunno that I'd bother atm, cuz they just broke everything w/ the latest update. I just finished playing through 3 and NV, gonna keep playing NV, and maybe a bit of 76 for now, give all the modders time to get all the kinks worked back out lol

** just realized you're on console, nvm, you're probably fine

Max strength, melee and explosives only.
Every day I wake up and promise I will be nice to everyone, then I deal with people at work and remember why that will never happen.
Does the PS5 version have a controller gimmick or something?

Honestly if you still have Fallout 4 on PC, you could fix the settlement stuff with mods. Some mods don't work on Playstation due to Sony not allowing outside assets, so it's harder to get everything you want there.

But for builds, I liked going for heavy gun or explosives focused builds.

Friends,

I like hiding, and sniper with silencer. will its not really called that, but its ok.

Will you play with mods??? then you can do anything you want.

on the xbox there are over 9000 mods, so you can find something that fits your style.

the problem is, there are so MANY mods, you have to wait through 300 to find what you want.

still a fun game. enjoy.

There seem to be mods. But I wanna play modless at first. Think they disable trophies as well.

I also rode the hate train from the moment 76 was announced and made fun of all the glitches and hiccups in game and out after launch

But after giving it a try after some of the later updates I realized it's actually a fun world to explore.

You can, but you sink to the bottom and you still can die to drowning (though it takes longer IIRC).

You also move painfully slow underwater in it, so it's really not worth doing so if you can avoid it.
I started a high Intelligence and Perception character focusing on Energy Weapons... It was going great until a glitch rendered my companions useless and I can't even dismiss them and take the Lone Wanderer perk to make up for the glitch...

Restarted with high Strength and Agility with minimum Endurance, Perception, Charisma, and Intelligence... I'm made of tissue paper but I hit like a truck lol...

is it better to do good, neutral, or evil for a first playthrough? are certain builds better for certain karma alignments?
It's worth starting with some decent luck so you can get the perk (I believe it's Idiot Savant) that gives you random bonuses of XP when you earn XP. Lower the INT, the better, although it should help regardless. You will be killing about 23423423 enemies in the process of a playthrough, after all.

You mean it gives you oxygen? Perhaps, but I think you're still irradiated. Either way, the best reason for Aquaboy/Aquagirl is just easier, freer movement, especially how many annoying-ass mirelurks and (occasionally) deathclaws you can find near bodies of water. Just being able to dip into the deep to avoid fighting those bastards is its own sweet reward, and naturally the perk also gets a workout in Far Harbor.

One of the first things I try and do is buy the house in diamond city for 2000 caps. Store all of your weapons in that worksbench because anywhere else like sanctuary, settlers will take your weapons out of the workbench whenever they are attacked.
High INT, high CHA is usually my go-to build in the early game; start off with 7-8 INT, boost it up to 10 asap, then grab the INT bobblehead from Boston Public Library to permanently boost it to 11 (you won't get the permanent 11 stat if you grab a bobblehead before naturally getting said stat to 10).

Max INT early-on is very useful in a game with infinite leveling, especially considering that most of the perks are just necessary stat / crafting unlocks to keep pace with the progressing game. Plus it's beneficial to level up to 30 as early as possible, otherwise you'll lock yourself out of spawning X-01 Power Armor spawns by naturally exploring those areas at lower levels (although now that the X-02 and Hellfire Creations are free, the X-01 isn't as desirable as it once was).

High / Max CHA is also beneficial for settlement-building if you want a high number of settlers. It's also nice to never have to worry about failing a speech check with 10 CHA. High INT is more important imo if you need to pick one or the other.

And again, due to infinite leveling, you've got plenty of time later to boost other SPECIALs to high levels. Low STR can be easily mitigated with Power Armor. LCK is pretty much a VATs-dedicated build; and since I don't use VATs that often due to FO4 actually being a competent FPS compared to 3, I usually skip it (though it is fun, and lots of people swear by LCK-based VATs combat, so that's definitely up to your discretion).
Simple questions deserve long-winded answers that no one will bother to read.

Yeah whenever someone hates on 76, I try to explain how it's a much better game than it used to be. I have a ton of fun with it and I have 204 hours in it now. I love my glass cannon build (bloodied). I melt basic enemies, but I have to keep a close eye on my health since my damage comes from staying below 20% hp
