I agree with this. I find it odd when straight couples use it because when someone says "My partner" because I just assume they're not in a straight relationship. Which I would support either way, it doesn't matter to me. But I do find it odd language to use because it's so unspecific.
The point is normalization, same with pronouns.

It's trying to take things like that and make them less of a flashing neon sign that says "THIS PERSON IS QUEER."
