People are still parroting that PlayStation has no games nonsense all these years later, huh.I mean let's be honest, no current gen console really has any worthwhile games as far as really being this gen goes.
I mean let's be honest, no current gen console really has any worthwhile games as far as really being this gen goes. The newer Spider-Man games, the newer God of War games, the Horizon games, the upcoming Wolverine game, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us games, and the recent Stellar Blade game.
Maybe FFXIV and Alan Wake 2, everything else has basically been a last gen game with four times the budget and slightly better graphics.
The newer Spider-Man games, the newer God of War games, the Horizon games, the upcoming Wolverine game, Ghost of Tsushima, The Last of Us games, and the recent Stellar Blade game.I was speaking strictly current gen games. Most of those are cross with last gen.
Sonys exclusives blow Microsoft out of the water.
I was speaking strictly current gen games. Most of those are cross with last gen.And I was speaking on the tired joke of claiming PlayStation has no games.
There's been very little reason to buy in to this gen at all, even though it's like 4 years in.
And I was speaking on the tired joke of claiming PlayStation has no games.Yeah but that's all personal opinion. The only game on that list that I liked is Ghost of Tsushima. So to me, it's basically none. Even then I liked Days Gone more but I got that on PC.
Because its still a big leap from the current switch? Thats why what he posted doesnt make any sense. I want a more powerful switch, thats what this successor is going to be.No, I want Nintendo to go third party, but if they arent going to hold games hostage to hardware, they should stop being cheap. The only reason they put out such weak hardware is that people let them get away with it. They have the money to do something thats competitive with the PC handhelds if they want to. The reason the Switch was as out of date as it was is that it was cheaper for Nintendo to buy out of date chips than it was current chips at the time, and this is no different.
You think its more reasonable that nintendo continues trying to develop for the regular switch than release a more powerful one, even if its less powerful than its rival consoles? Where were you during the Wii years, or the wii u years, or even now during the switch years?
Yeah but that's all personal opinion. The only game on that list that I liked is Ghost of Tsushima. So to me, it's basically none.
God of War was too on rails for me, and Spider Man ones just felt largely inferior to the older titles, just prettier. Also fuck the stealth sequences.Theres tons of open world sections in God of War >_>
Not a big fan of cinematic spectacle in games, and I just didn't care for the stage design or combat enough in God of War to give the game time of day.
So when Xbox games are playable on PC, it counts as if they dont exist on Xbox.Xbox games are available on PC day 1, whereas PlayStstion games dont come to PC for about 2 years usually. This isnt hard.
When Playstation games are playable on PC, they still count as Playstation games.
And Nintendo got no exclusives because emulators.

Theres tons of open world sections in God of War >_>The puzzles were super easy, and if you ever had to think for a second you usually had NPCs beating you over the head verbally. Not saying the game wasn't open ever, but it was a very clearly.. curated experience that just didn't resonate with me at all, easiest way I could put it.
And the combat and puzzles are top notch.
Im sorry you feel that way.The Spider-Man and God of War games are phenomenal.
Xbox games are available on PC day 1, whereas PlayStstion games dont come to PC for about 2 years usually. This isnt hard. Both appears on both console and PC.
The industry is also literally collapsing under the weight of extended development time and the inflated budgets and profits needed just to break even. That's also the biggest point. The "mainstream" part of game dev is failing harder than it has ever in the past 20 years, with signs of it only ever getting worse in the near future. This would be the literal worst time to go "Hey we have a formula that works for us, but what if we ignore that and do what everyone else is doing?"
Why do people expect nintendo to go all in on an expensive and powerful beast of a machine NOW of all times?

The dude i was responding to earlier wants nintendo to go third party.

Yeah there are some nonsensical ideas in here. The dude i was responding to earlier wants nintendo to go third party. If Nintendo did what PlayStstiin is doing where they release their exclusives on Steam a couple years after release, theyd literally print billions of dollars the first day they did it. So many people would even buy Switch games they already own again, because Nintendos hardware is awful and offers no compelling reason for itself to exist. Their software is amazing, but its held back by their terrible hardware.
Why the fuck would they go third party after their massive success of the cheapest and least powerful console on the market?

So many people would even buy Switch games they already own again, because Nintendos hardware is awful and offers no compelling reason for itself to exist. Theyve made a profit starting day one on all that terrible hardware. Theyve made as much profit during the switch years as they made from all other gaming years combined. And? None of that in any way refutes anything I said. Releasing games on PC would only add cargo ship loads of money on top of that.

Just accept that if you want nintendo, you have to buy their consoles. This is like another level of port-begging where you just want all of their exclusives to go to pc.

The market NEEDS a cheap, reliable platform right now more than ever, and Nintendo has done that brilliantly with the switch. Going third party right now would again, be nonsensical. And thats fine, just dont hold games hostage to it, or anyone with any kind of standards whatsoever is going to emulate at 2x resolution and 2x frame rate instead. The fortune theyd save on being able to end their legal crusade against emulation alone is probably worth doing delayed releases on PC.
So theyd be trading one profit source for another, along with that source taking a cut?No, theyd be supplementing one source of profit with another one without losing a thing, just as PlayStation has done.
Makes sense I guessHistory says it does.
Whats the top selling steam game? PUBG at around 60 million? How long did it take that? Mario Kart beats that alone not to mention the hundreds of millions of others. Uh I think Nintendo is doing ok.Of course they are, but corporations always want more money. Money isnt the reason they dont. Theyre just massive control freaks.
I dont think Nintendo would ever do this based on history but I like the idea. I cant reasonably buy a Switch over these other handheld PCs. I would for sure play their games on one of them though.Oh they definitely wont, but thats only because they win have to. If people only bought exclusives on Switch and didnt buy any third parties for it, for instance, Nintendo might be forced to compromise a little.

I dont think Nintendo would ever do this based on history but I like the idea.If this ever happens I'm willing to bet money Apple will be their partner. The two have very common design and development philosophies, and it requires the least amount of effort on Nintendo's part for maximum reach and profit.

They essentially port their games from one ARM SoC to another and suddenly their software is available on billions of devices which natively support all major controller types and in most cases can be cast to televisions.
The PSP and Vita had pure power.Yeah theyre good examples that power doesnt equal success.
some of yall really underestimate how much price and accessibility factor in when it comes to handhelds.
The steam deck and similar handhelds win in pure power, but lose to the switch in ease of use , battery life, and price right off the bat. When it comes to handhelds pure power is not the main goal, and really shouldnt be.

1. Steam Deck OLED has fantastic battery life given its power
2. Its frankly shameful the Switch still costs as much as it does considering how antiquated it is.
By ease of use I mean simply that when you put in a switch game you know its designed to work specifically for the switch.
Steam deck doesnt have that guarantee. You may have to tweak settings to get games to run properly, and Steam OS is not without its share of bugs and glitches. It can do more than the switch, but its objectively less simple to get things to work sometimes.
The games that require tweaking 99% of the time are games the Switch cant even run. Games that arent very demanding rarely require anything.Yeah, like i said it can do more, but that can also require more from the user. A steam deck probably isnt something id give to a younger or super casual gamer as a gift.
It can do more which is why it requires tweaking at times but it still has a low barrier to entry for casual gamers.
Yeah, like i said it can do more, but that can also require more from the user. A steam deck probably isnt something id give to a younger or super casual gamer as a gift. They dont need to stop making consoles. Just give me first party games after 2 years without forcing me to emulate them if I want a half-decent experience. Its pretty sad how hard their hardware holds their software back. BotW absolutely chugged on Switch.
I just think both can coexist without nintendo needing to go third party.
Wowee, 4 whole games over a span of 5 years! Thats almost 1 whole good game a year! Theyre killing it!Thats your opinion. You dont have to buy the console. Stick to PC gaming if that suits you better. Sony still has the better exclusives.
The spider man games can be beaten over a long weekend. Theyre good, but not good value for the money, and certainly not for the amount of manpower and years it takes to make them.
Thats your opinion. You dont have to buy the console. Stick to PC gaming if that suits you better. Sony still has the better exclusives.
But theyre not even exclusive the PS5 exclusive list is a joke.
Call me when youre playing them on Xbox or Switch. Again, enjoy your PC experience.
How in the world does that translate into Sony has the better exclusives?Because the original argument is about consoles, not PC. And those are Sony games. Im glad you can get them on a $3k PC. Like I said, enjoy your PC experience.

Make a topic right now with a poll on who has the best console exclusives and watch the PS5 get laughed out of the topic. Youre delusional. You cant twist exclusive to fit your definition. Either it is or it isnt.Ill just let you enjoy the rest of your Sunday. Or dont. Its up to you. Its all opinions.
