When I had a salary job, it did feel like they took advantage of me and had me work more than 8 hours, on average. That said, I had visible view into the higher level jobs, and I noticed they, very freely, could make sure they only worked 8 hours, or even less.

Thats not been my experience at all. The salaried jobs Ive come across and worked almost always have you working unpaid hours.
