Got to help out Musk. That would have killed him.
Biden should have to drive around in the Cyber Truck .
If China's EVs don't brick when they get wet, the tariff will be worth it.far worse than that. the brand of car USA is importing is called BYD. their brand is rubbish, like most things in china.

the car itself is worthless. tires, axel, the entire car itself is a ticking time bomb. teslas are rigged with copper wiring for the batteries. BYD electric cars use aluminum instead to cut costs.
many chinese auto reviewers say BYD EVs are trash tier.

Why are people thinking a tariff on EVs helps Tesla more than the big auto manufacturers
Are you seriously citing three serpentza videos for insights on China? He is a less than credible source I take it?
Tesla is the big EV maker in America. Ford is cutting down production of EVs. I am Jeep man and that jeep EV not hitting it. Tesla is the big game in gown and the Biden like always love giving gifts to republicans.
https://www.youtube.com/live/dvkotYEE0Ik?si=Ve1JxH6UOK4hEwpwBidens speech is pretty good tbh though
Like, I get it... but still.
He is a less than credible source I take it?He is incredibly bitter about China. I thought he was interesting when he was talking about China while he was in China, but ever since he left, it seems like he just reports whatever negative things he can regardless of how true or false they are.
The Biden admin has been pretty antagonistic to Tesla tbh due to them not using union labor. He's driven the Ford lightning ev truck for example. I think this helps the lagging big auto manufacturers to ramp back up or something. This move helps tesla the most since they have the cheapest EVs now. In fact, they cancelled their planned $25k model 2 shortly before these tariffs were announced, likely because he got the confirmation ahead of time.

He obviously wants US EVs to be at the forefront of the industry.

Oh, I meant he drove it as a PR thing when he went to go visit the Ford factory once a couple years back.Yeah fair enough. I just know he shows up to events in a Lyriq sometimes. Kind of the perfect vehicle for him too. American made EV that isnt an Elonmobile.
Not that it's his personal vehicle

No one in the West wants to hear about actual China. Right wingers want to hear about a communist dystopia. Tankies' want to hear about a communist utopia. No one wants to hear the boring reality that it's just a capitalist developing country with poor labor rights, almost no welfare, and massive inequality, because that's not interesting. The actually different from most places stuff like the hukou system, taxes, or how land ownership works just aren't interesting to most people either. Internet censorship is a popular one to talk about but people somehow still get that shit wrong and post memes about Winnie the Pooh being banned.this person gets it.
winston spent 14 years living under the rule of the CCP. he and laowhy, know first hand, what its like. do you? have you lived in china let alone traveled abroad? What does any of that have to do with reports on Chinese EVs supposedly failing spectacularly? I'd understand if we were talking about the Chinese government itself, but we're not. It doesn't take a genius to see that he has a negative view of the Chinese government that seeps into all topics about China.
would you like me to cite laowhy86 or david zhang for insight on the b/s of china?
dont start shilling because you havent done a lick of research. continue though i will shut your narrative down everytime.
This move helps tesla the most since they have the cheapest EVs now. In fact, they cancelled their planned $25k model 2 shortly before these tariffs were announced, likely because he got the confirmation ahead of time.Only they don't. I have looked up lists of most affordable EVs in America and Tesla tends to be in the middle of each list. And none of the cars on the list tend to be Chinese EVs.

Only they don't. I have looked up lists of most affordable EVs in America and Tesla tends to be in the middle of each list. And none of the cars on the list tend to be Chinese EVs.This move was made before the Chinese EVs could take over the market and make people see what they're missing. Tesla's Model 3 is the cheapest given its capabilities. The most comparable is the Chevy Bolt which is cheaper, but that was discontinued (and is coming back I think next year due to demand once it went away). Unless you're including shitty ones like the Nissan Leaf, most EVs are more expensive than Tesla's Model 3 and they were ready to bring a cheaper Model 2 until these tariffs were announced and they didn't feel the need.
The way people talk about this you would think most EVs being sold in the US are Chinese ones when really very few of them are. It just seems so weird to fight against something that so far isn't even an issue in the US.
Which are you seeing as most affordable? Are they comparable in stats like range?I was looking at articles like car and driver and Motor trend. So that might not be the same as their price in the wild.

There are likely other factors that determine price but both these 2024 lists of affordable EVs have Tesla's cheap car in the middle. Not looking at every factor of course.
1. Nissan Leaf S$29,280
2. Mini Cooper SE Hardtop Classic$31,895
3. Hyundai Kona Electric SE$34,050
4. Fiat 500e Inspi(Red)$34,095
5. Hyundai Ioniq 6 SE Standard Range$38,650
6. Tesla Model 3$40,630
7. Kia Niro EV Wind$40,975
8. Volkswagen ID.4 Standard$41,160
9. Fisker Ocean Sport$41,437
10. Hyundai Ioniq 5 SE Standard Range$43,175
Is climate change a looming catastrophe worth putting aside our petty differences, or is it not?
Are US automakers worth protecting at the planet's expense?

Tesla sells plenty in China.Sure, thanks to the head start and brand recognition, but that will change as time goes on and China builds up their domestic tech. For example, the iphone is starting to see this happen:
Its to protect legacy automakers who cant compete.Tesla is in bed with the government and owes their entire existence to the government through carbon credits, government contracts, and even coup attempts to secure resources (https://www.theguardian.com/books/2023/nov/25/we-will-coup-whoever-we-want-the-unbearable-hubris-of-musk-and-the-billionaire-tech-bros).
They smartly lobbied the govt unlike Tesla who dumbly refuses to play that game in the US.
Seems bad to continue a trade war
Especially when a moron who knows nothing started the trade war
