Yeah, the show made me do it. I thought I owned the game but found it on cdkeys for $8 something.

What are some popular mods for it? I saw the free texture pack on Steam got bad reviews.
This is where cool people write stuff.
I think they just put out another update, like, literally today.

So mods are probably borked for a little while.

The mods I've enjoyed are (note that some mods have likely been messed up by the recent patches):

Utilities
-Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch (fixes several bugs that Bethesda never fixed)
-Fallout 4 Script Extender/F4SE (modding resource that several mods will require)
-Mod Configuration Menu (An in-game menu for some mod settings)

Settlement Mods
-Sim Settlements 2 (gives you the ability to make settlements either semi automated or fully automated. Also has a full questline with new, voiced NPCs)
  • Hud Framework (needed for Sim Settlements)
  • Workshop Framework (needed for Sim Settlements)
-Sim Settlements 2 Add on packs
-Homemaker - Expanded Settlements (adds a ton of new items to place in settlements)
-Place Everywhere (removes the placement restrictions in settlements)
-Scrap Everything (allows you to scrap most things in settlements)

Visuals
-Vivid Fallout all in one (improved textures for landscapes, trees, rocks, roads and bridges)
-Vivid Weathers (adds more weather effects and improves cloud textures)
-Wasteland Creatures Redone (improves the textures of monsters)
-A Forest (this one is more of a personal preference for me. It adds a ton of trees and plants to the game map. Changes it from a barren wasteland to an overgrown forest)

General Mods
-We are the Minutemen (improves the minutemen faction and has them grow in presence as you do quests for them)
-Black Widow Armor and Pipboy (Cool looking custom armor)

Dammit Bethesda stop. I've been waiting for Fallout London to get fixed and here they go, adding another update.

I turned my game into a raiding war simulator. I had huge raid camps and whole groups of decked out npcs with power armour.

There were wars all over the map lol. Was fun as hell.

we're all adding in updates.
currently playing: elder scrolls skyrim (ps5)
RIP Sophie the dog: February 2011-april 2024. we'll miss you alot.
They pushed out another garbage update today so all the best mods are broken at the moment yet again.
I really wish they'd fuck off from PC already, they have nothing to offer us regarding Fallout 4 anymore.

I know its a thing in Skyrim for dragons, but shit I would lose it if I saw his face popping up every time on a mole rat.
He's all alone through the day and night.
Is it on sale?

Not on steam. Steam key on cdkeys.com is over $30 cheaper.

I'm downloading the free texture pack for now because of the update issues.
This is where cool people write stuff.
So yeah, I had no issues with the texture pack on Steam. Other than making the game huge it runs fine for me.

I'll give it a few more days before trying real mods.

I always install Scrap Everything and a bunch of graphical mods (texture packs, mesh replacers, enb).

I hope to find a mod that reduces these load times.

Holy shit they're almost Morrowind level long when going from a building to the open world. The game's old but not that old.

Pretty much anything by Niero gets my recommendation. CROSS Jetpack and CROSS Strigidae Courser outfit are two of my favorite mods.

And the Wattz Laser Rifle might be my all-time favorite / most-used weapon mod.

Best mod you can download right now is the version downgrader so you can play pre update mods.

next gen update didnt do much for pc at all.
Dinosaurs built the pyramids.
There's some decent quest mods available right there on the main menu.
America Rising is an Enclave story that I'm currently working on. It's really well done.
Gonna try out Tales of the Commonwealth quest mod after I complete the Enclave.

In that case you should try the "long loading times fix." That Creator also has a mod that fixes the game speed being tied to the fps (by default having really high fps makes the game go super speed)

Second these. Think I was recommended these by you as well a year ago or so.
And if you're playing a female character I'd say the Black Widow armor + unique shotgun are also a must for me at this point

The name is wackyteen for a reason. Never doubt.

I'll check those out.

Without mods, how can we disable the 60 fps limit? What I found on google isn't working ( setting iPresentInterval value to 0).

That's supposed to uncap it but it's still only 60 for me.

IIRC, you need to make sure the ini file is not read only when you save it, or the changes won't take effect.

But be warned, when you get that working, without any mods, having fps above 60 will make the game speed up. Lockpicking becomes really hard when everything is moving at super speed lol

I heard that, just wondered why it was still capped.

I haven't successfully picked a lock yet without it speeding up. Still not exactly sure what I'm doing with hacking but managed to do a few terminals.

Oh god, how could I forget radio station recommendations!

Cadillac Jack's Radio Shack, Red Rocket Radio Bop, and Old World Tunes are my favorites. Isaiah Pendergrass and Johnny Fonzie's DJing is a treat. "Don't ever grab an Assaultron from behind. It'll shoot you in the face... with its face."
