Romney, a vocal critic of Trump, said, I think its a terrible fault for our country to see people attacking our legal system thats an enormous mistake. I think its also demeaning for people to quite apparently try and run for vice president by donning a red tie and standing outside the courthouse. It's just I'd have felt awkward.

The Utah Republican argued that Biden should have pardoned Trump when the Justice Department announced charges against him and that the president made an enormous error by not pressuring New York prosecutors to drop their case against Trump. (Presidents can pardon only in federal cases.)

"He should have fought like crazy to keep this prosecution from going forward, Romney said, referring to Biden. It was a win-win for Donald Trump.

Pressed by Ruhle whether that is Bidens job to pardon Trump, Romney said he believes that Biden should have taken a cue from former President Lyndon B. Johnson, saying that the president could have stepped in and urged New York prosecutors to drop the case.

I have been around for a while. If LBJ had been president, and he didnt want something like this to happen, hed have been all over that prosecutor saying, You better not bring that forward or Im gonna drive you out of office, he said.

Ruhle then noted that Romney supports having separate but equal branches of government.

I do. ... You may disagree with this, but had I been President Biden, when the Justice Department brought on indictments, I would have immediately pardoned him. I'd have pardoned President Trump. Why? Well, because it makes me, President Biden, the big guy and the person I pardoned a little guy.

One of the dumber Republicans

He wants the president to pressure a state court to drop a case? So he wants the president to be a dictator, Trump or not?

Closest I remember is people calling him a turtle. I think they meant it as an insult. But turtles are beautiful things.

Don't call horrible people turtles.

Even if Biden would consider it he would only do so under the condition there be some kind of admission of guilt and maybe a sliver of remorse which we know wont happen

No.

I think some cofuse giving kudos for a specific thing, to a sponsorship of one's entire character.

It eas great he voted to impeach, but giving kudos for that specific thing shouldn't be confused for thinking Romney is a good guy.
Oh, good to know Romney is okay forgiving Trump for stealing box after box of classified documents, lying about having them, and being caught on recording showing them to people he shouldnt.

I wonder what his stance on Hillary Clinton was regarding her emails.

There are no good Republicans. Not now, not ever.
"He should have fought like crazy to keep this prosecution from going forward, Romney said, referring to Biden. It was a win-win for Donald Trump.

Ok but it is literal corruption to interfere with legal processes for the sake of political benefits.

You may disagree with this, but had I been President Biden, when the Justice Department brought on indictments, I would have immediately pardoned him.

Good thing America saw through this guy.

You know what, Mitt? I disagree.

What a dumb proposal, really.

All people are equal before the law. Trump needs to get punished for his crimes all the same as any other person.

A: For the state run investigations Biden has no say in those. To try to force state investigations to halt would be the exact opposite of the "small government" Romney claims to support.
B: For the federal ones: Some are from a period before Trump was president so any of those sure as hell should not be pardoned and.
C: there might be a point with the ones from when Trump was in office but given the fat fuck has openly stated he would weaponize the government against his enemies, likely answered with Romney's silence, you know good and well this "bigger man" bullshit would not come out of Romney's mouth if the roles were reversed.

Rage is a hell of an anesthetic.
I think being a good Republican and being good compared to other Republicans is an important distinction.

Romney isn't a good Republican, those don't exist. He just seems good in comparison.
Temporary signature
lets be honest, what would it possibly do for Biden?

Would it get him even ONE republican vote? No

And it would cost him millions of Democratic votes

He would easily lose every swing state and Im sure more than a few blue states

1000% agreed.

it was originally suppose to be something to prevent really harsh or unjust punishments.

Now its just a perk of the office that allows absolute corruption.

It seems to me Romney tends to have better options more often than his Republican colleagues. I've seen him multiple times put aside the party line bullshit because it wasn't the right thing.

This is not one of those times and he is wrong.

Did he do this on purpose? The "big guy" seems kind of intentional and certainly means something to the red hats.
Well, because it makes me, President Biden, the big guy

I was disappointed to read this yesterday. I dont think Mitt is a good guy or anything, but I do honestly think he believes Trump is bad for America. But his take on this is plain moronic:

1.Saying that a President is above the law is extremely bad if you want a functioning government;

2.Him pushing the idea that Biden should pressure those working in the state judicial branch to drop charges is problematic in more ways than I can count, including federal interference with state and executive interference with judiciary;

2.He seems to be pushing this as some grand political strategy for Biden and a way to heal the country. As if pardoning Trump would gain him one GOP vote, and wouldnt lose him millions of Democrat votes. As if a gesture like that would heal anything when Trump and his MAGA cult never stops crying about persecution and rigged elections no matter what.

Refusing to hold an obvious criminal accountable is just the worst of all possible takes. Come on Mitt.
An opinion does not turn into a fact simply because the person holding it feels strongly about it.
The better man trope only works when the other side is smart enough to understand how pathetic they look

the power trump and his cult hold is in their myopathy
Pardoning Trump would almost certainly cost Biden the election. He'd piss off his own base while Republicans would still vote Republican.
