Idk, ol "Puff Daddy" had a pretty huge skyrocket after Biggie passed. A little suspect to me, is all.

Bad Boy Records did benefit greatly from the interest gained from Biggie's passing with songs like "I'll Be Missing You" but it's not like the label (and by extension Diddy) wasn't already big before

Biggie himself fanned the flames by mocking Tupac's death live on air in LA a few days before he died, too. The most you can do is speculate that Diddy purposefully put Biggie out there for someone to come kill him as part of his plan to profit from his death.
