A group of orcas known to attack boats in southwest Europe have sunk a 50-foot sailing yacht in the Strait of Gibraltar after ripping open its hull. It is the fifth time these killer whales have sent a ship to the seafloor in the last three years.
And experts have warned that more attacks are likely in the coming months after the orcas unexpectedly switched up their behavior earlier this year.
Do they get anything from it? Food? Or is it just revenge/bored?

Do they get anything from it? Food? Or is it just revenge/bored?Orcas are jackasses. Iirc, they are the only other species(than us) to have been documented killing for fun.
A lot of seals like to jump up on boats to avoid the orcas. Perhaps theyve taken notice
Maybe the boats are scaring away their food?
That would be terrifying.
During Covid, there were a lot less ships in the sea, which resulted in quieter waters. This was a great benefit to cetaceans, as it let them communicate more easily. (Imagine if a species was constantly running jets over your head.)Interesting point. Poor whales.

So I have to wonder if its a coincidence that these attacks started shortly afterwards. They were used to noise all their lives, then suddenly got a break and realized what life could be like without humans screaming across the ocean all the time. So maybe theyre trying to go back to that.
Do they get anything from it? Food? Or is it just revenge/bored?Scientists have theorized that an orca may have been injured when cooling its face in the prop wash.
Fuck yes. Sink as many boats and yachts as you can, orcas.
I fucking hate it when people side with shitty ass humans (an invasive species) over aquatic life.
Our species was not meant to be in the ocean. We were not designed for that and the only reason we are is because of our intelligence. Do we have more of a right to be in the ocean than creatures literally born into it who cannot live elsewhere? FUCK NO.
You do realize that humans have been crossing oceans since the Neolithic, right? We're talking at least 7,000 BC, bare minimum, that humans were crossing the Mediterranean sea for trade.

Aquaman is pissed.Dang. Somehow I knew it would end this way...
