I was finishing my night shift and as I was entering the train I needed to take to go home some random guy far away started screaming if I could hold the train door for him as he was sprinting so he could catch the train. I held the door for him and he made it inside.
He thanked me and then started talking to me, immediately he told me how he had to get away from his house and at this point I noticed that the dude had too much to drink. He started telling me how his mother passed away recently and that he couldn't stay home with his dad because his dad has too much negative energy. Then he started tearing saying how he has to stop being so emotional, to stop crying all the time and how he has to be strong. I just told him if he needed to cry then go and cry, you're not weak for crying and that bottling up all those emotions ain't good for you as you clearly went through a lot. Then he just went up to me and started giving me a hug, I hugged him back and told him that it's going to be okay. Then he started saying something random about Michael Jordan (???) how he overcame so many odds to become the goat, how the Mafia killed his father and he used that to become stronger how he needed to be like Michael Jordan. I didn't even know what to do at this point, I just let him vent. When up to him and gave him another hug, he told me thanks and how much he appreciated that. Unfortunately for him I didn't really stay there long as my ride was only like 4 minutes and I got off and we said our goodbyes.
I don't even know why I'm sharing this, just hope that dude finds peace tbh. I know the feeling about being sad, sometimes you just gotta get it out of your chest even if it's with a random stranger
