Joining the US Army was the best decision I ever made. It's a shame today's kids are afraid to serve.

You can "retire" at 38, but you won't see that money until you're 59 1/2.

That's for Guard/Reserves

Nobody wants to fight in pointless wars that do nothing for the United States and if they do none of the "spoils of victory" go to them anyway, it's all the rich fuckers at the top that benefit.

The military is too bloated as it is, we don't need all the shit we have right now.

How do they figure they specifically lost that many from this

I remember in elementary school they took us on a field trip to the army base here. They showed us the living conditions, and how they had to wake up super early and do all that training and stuff

I swear they were trying to make us not want to join lol

Thats actually pretty low as far as advertising usually goes. And considering how much money is usually wasted on worthless equipment, jobs vehicles and supplies is the least of the militarys budgeting concerns.

As for why nobody is joining, the pay, benefits and opportunities it provides still are great. Anybody trying to say otherwise dont know wtf theyre talking about. The fact of the matter is that patriotism/nationalism are at all time lows, and our government has gone full mask offs with Israel and nobody whats to serve and fight for that.

Are you gonna pay the cost and sort out the paperwork for him to move? No? Neither is anyone else. That's why most people stay where they are if they don't specifically have a strong reason not to, even if other places may theoretically be a bit better.

We didn't go to an actual army base, but we did have an army officer come in and talk to us about the military and he was talking about all that stuff like it was a positive and made men MEN .

All of us students basically looked at each other and went "Yeah, not joining the military when we grow up."
When I was in HS the Army brought a helicopter and parked it behind the school. And they let 18 year old seniors sign a waiver to ride like 100ft into the air. Seemed cool at the time

Feels real weird now

Well maybe if we didn't fight stupid wars, or screw over our vets, people might be less leery of the US military.

I had two, well technically three if you count the optional ASVAB you can take which I did, Army recruiter interactions in high school.

The first was my Freshman year (2007) and I don't remember much of it because I was decidedly not paying attention cause I was not interested at all in being outside, let alone in the fucking Army. Also, I was much more of a rebellious teen at 14 and refused to even say the Pledge of Allegiance.

Took the ASVAB my Sophomore year, i believe. Did well enough to have gotten just about any enlisted job in just about any military branch (my dumb ass later in life goes on to be the most 'Needs of the Army' MOS, 88M). Which I treated as a fun little factoid but didn't put any serious consideration into my head.

Then they had a kiosk thing set up in my Junior year. I don't even really remember talking to the guy, just grabbed a couple flyer things and it was what actually put the idea in my head.

After graduating I considered joining then, but my mom begged me to go to college for a couple years. So I did. Without a work ethic or discipline, I struggled with classes so I decided I'd join the Army to acquire some of that discipline.

Jokes on fucking me. This shit doesn't require discipline. And here I am nearly 11 years later, just now with a lifelong devotion to the American system.

I had heard that going into the PR tract of any armed service was considered one of the most undesired tracts in general.

It would seem to add up that the Army has poor PR/recruiting ads when most people avoid doing that in the first place.

I mean, most people who want to join the military, want to fight (or at least do something 'cool' ) not be propagandists. Also it can be hard to turn people who have been heavily propagandized, into good propagandists.

One would think they should target employees of marketing firms and give them specialized contracts or offers/programs, similar to how the Army/military convinces civilian doctors to go be Army doctors.

Anyways.

Don't join the military.

The benefits aren't that great.

The chance of ptsd(even for non combatants) is high.

Even the thirst trapping is a lie.

The military has a massive gender imbalance.

This isn't true. The benefits are great. You get to go to college for free, if you get a disability, you're paid for life, and you get military discounts.

How old are you? 4 years is nothing, and you can gain a lot of life skills in that time, along with making great friendships, and good money.

It's the worst move most people have ever made which is why so many people are not joining.

Thankfully younger generations have access to more information and can weed out the propaganda.

Can you extrapolate on this "argument"? I got my college degree because of the Army. I never would have gone to college if I didn't join.

Or better still, trim even more tens of billions with a negative impact on operations.
