My wife's aunt just had a 3x coronary artery bypass...

Shes's 68 years old and never had kids. Husband died a few years ago and the only family she has near her are two nieces one of them being my wife. She just got home and can barely do much stuff so shes been asking my wife for food every now and then. All fine with me....except shes asking for fucking mcdonalds every single time and my wife is complying. I just saw her ask my wife for a double quarter pounder WITH ice cream. I really couldnt believe what I was hearing...this person is getting a second shot at life and quickly squandering it away. The 100k (or more) that medicare probably paid for her all going down the drain. Then I pushed back on my wife asking her "why are you getting her that stuff? You're being an enabler and just helping her die faster". Of course she didnt take kindly too that and even threatened divorce. Maybe it was wrong from my part, but the situation is so fucking ridiculous to me that I couldnt help but spurt that out.

Yeah that's a harsh way to word it, chances are your wife either didn't think about it or just gave in to shut MIL up. But you're right about it being a concern.

Its just so baffling to me. You love someone? You help them get better, not worse! Try to find a workaround for the bad choice. Maybe suggest a chicken sandwich instead of the very first horrible choice they want.
