This explains so so much. No wonder Chihiro is best girl in Persona 3. Well her and Yuko (Persona 3 oddly had the best non-party member girls in the series)

Their original design for Fuuka was so much better it's a shame they didn't stick to it. Long hair Fuuka with glasses and neckscarf is a 10.

This is some astoundingly bad taste in waifus. Chihiro could never be best girl in a game where Aegis and Elizabeth exist.

Multiple bad takes. I love p3, but a lot of the non party members are pretty uninteresting.

Yuko is definitely best girl though.

A couple other pretty fun facts:

Dark haired metrosexual Kanji was so hot he might have overshadowed the already ugly bowl-cut gray haired protagonist, so that's probably why they changed him. No one would believe someone that well groomed and good-looking would be insecure.

Bishie Naoto is way better looking. I get wanting to pair Kanji up with someone but their final design for Naoto with the blue hair didn't look very good.

There was always rumors of romancing Yosuke and it makes a ton of sense. He fawns over the protagonist, he's very homophobic, and it was very obvious from behavior that Yosuke was somewhat bi-curious.

Initially some attributed it to Atlus wanting to go the other way with the sidekick character where instead of him being insanely jealous of you like Junpei was in Persona 3, he instead is actually drooling over how cool you are mentioning it to you and everyone who meets you, including confiding in you as we see with Yosuke in Persona 4.

Yes, it even had English voice acting which likely means it was still in the game far into development. (Atlus used to release the English version of games well after the Japanese release of games).

I'm not a fan of the romance social links due to how wildly out of character they make them behave sometimes, but this was one of the rare times that the social link would have matched the in-game character personality and made sense.

I am sure I watched that before. But I forgot so much about Persona 3 even when I was playing P3P again and some of Reload. That video was nine years ago. It's interesting how design docs and things. Is Yukari still hated? I saw a video uploaded how one youtuber celebrated how she wasn't hated anymore but then The ANSWER:Aegis, ruined soo much. Mainly Yukari not being as angry. So who won?

I fuckin' don't know, I probably just liked Yukari because she was attractive back then and Mitsuru had red hair so hmmm. I do think of people beyond just appearances, but it's wild how much popular opinion sway. Also I never really liked Fuuka too much. But she does have some good development.

Yukari lost. They straight up changed how she behaved in reloaded for episode aigis. People like her more retroactively in the answer (the original episode aigis) because she doesn't feel so diluted. You get to see her grief completely and utterly and it is ugly as hell but it's definitely better even if the writing around it is still convoluted. The lack of tension actually makes reloaded worse in this regard.

Appearance goes a decent way into his liked characters are, do it's understandable. Mitsuru is definitely a great design and I love her character too.

Lol I was gonna say I'm more upset they didn't stick with this design and instead gave the p3 protagonist that blue hair and emo haircut. Or didn't at least utilize the design for p4 protagonist who has an even worse hair style, a gray bowlcut.
