With GameFAQs having jumped from owner to owner over the last few years, and the news of Fandom laying off staff, its possible this sites days could be numbered.

Discord, but that's basically where I already spend my time. If this is the main place you visit online to the point it would meaningfully affect you if this site dies one day ... you need to broaden your horizons.

Im old enough to remember a life without the internet and Im content with going back to it if this place goes bye-bye, I only come here when Im bored at work and need the dopamine hits
my old computer died and i didn't feel like resetting the password to my original account, so i created this one instead. now i only use it when i use my iphone

Honestly, I might actually be motivated to create a spinoff in that case, and use the CE-adjacent Discords to get the word out.

Assuming no one beats me to it first.

I'd probably just think about doing it, maybe at best spend an hour or so *starting* work on one, then abandon the idea, tho.

Steam for specific game questions. Itll dick not having access to legacy or non PC game boards though.

I've got my own Discord server with several other users from the NFL board in it. I don't know any of the GameFAQs Discord servers, other than the NFL Summersim I was briefly in.

Though I think if GameFAQs boards was shut down. I'd probably frequent Reddit a little more, and any other similar message board sites like Threadzone.

Also, in the near future. I would like to move away from social media altogether, or at least be a lot less active on the Internet.

Probably a combination of Reddit and the Steam forums. I like having a place to discuss the game I'm playing, but I don't really care for ResetEra, NeoGAF or NintendoLife. And we do have Discord as well

I'll just keep using gaming boards on steam which are actually active, unlike the game boards here which have mostly been dead for over 10 years. The good steam boards are full of helpful and polite users. The bad ones are full of garbage "muh woke" trolls with 88 in their user names and I avoid those boards like the plague.

Not touching any stupid chatrooms like Discord, chatrooms were useless and lame 20 years ago.

i'm already posted up on the CE spinoff Discord and Threadzone, so i will just utilize those more often. i am on Reddit too but i don't post on any of the GameFAQs related subs. but if this finally goes under, i might start posting on one of those. not any of the ones infested by brainwashed chuds though.

I would just be done and not go anywhere.

It would damn near be the end of my Internet usage. I'm on gamefaqs quite a bit but that is like 95% of my Internet usage. I have some minor youtube usage and I'll check out espn for some sports scores but that is about it.

Other places don't appeal to me. I will never use something like discord or reddit or anything. I prefer this archaic style message board honestly. I like the layout and the ease of following a topic. When this goes away it will simply end for me. Kind of like imdb.com When those message boards went away I just stopped having a place to talk about movies. This will be the same.

Honestly I will miss it because it has been a 20 year habit and a great time killer at work (literally at work right now) but it won't be a HUGE deal. I'm Gen X and the Internet is a minor part of my life. Grew up without it, don't really depend on it outside getting game patches through PSN.

i would move to psnprofile instead. they track trophy. and have helpful advice when it comes to learning game difficulty to 100% or platinum.

gamefaqs has the better game guides.
currently playing: nickelodeon kart racers 3: slime speedway (daily until disc arrives)

This is the last "message board" I use, so I would be done with them. No big deal. Using this site is just a bad habit I can't break. I'd find better ways to "waste time" while waiting in lines or for appointments or other occassions I'm momentarily bored.

chats move so fast, its basically impossible to have long term discussions. Even 4chan is better for that

and it always feels rude just butting in to a conversation, which on discords which arent dead is 24/7

Threadzone could use more members for those who love the old, archaic-style message boards. I'm like one of just a small handful of people keeping the site active these days. We sure like to have some more people on there.

I'm in a bunch of communities already, mostly Discord based, one I'm basically the #2 admin in (I prefer letting someone else be the #1 who has more time/money/whatever they can put forward to it)

You just drop into the conversation and contribute. If the server has enough channels like Humble's CE server, there's plenty of areas to start a new conversation that's not #general.
