like for performance mostly. i only need 60fps and 1080p

gonna play it as a looter shooter instead of as an RPG, since I think i wont like it if i treat it like an RPG

i quite enjoy 76 fwiw

there's a companion mod that lets one of the companions save a certain NPC and that NPC becomes a companion (if a bit on the generic side).

i loved that mod.

oof levels are off the charts here

no idea then. just do yourself a favor and try not to pay attention to the story in 4, you're better off that way. maybe there's a mod with a better story?

Something that lets you transfer legendary effects to another piece of gear. There's no need to have ghoul slayers (+50% damage to ghouls) on a radium rifle (does radiation damage which heals ghouls), or your second free fall left leg armor.

That's the best way to play FO4 as it is a looter shooter but with RPG elements.

Search 'Niero' for outfit mods. CROSS Strigidae is one of the coolest outfits around, and all their other apparel mods are top-notch (only reason I don't use them all is limited mod space on consoles).

I also highly recommend loading up on Radio mods to give yourself some much-needed audio variety. Cadillac Jack's Radio Shack, Red Rocket Radio Bop, Old World Tunes, Galaxy News Radio, and Malt Shop Mayhem are all great - good lore-friendly tunes and hilarious and / or interesting DJ commentary (all made by the same author, who has a ton of other radio mods under the 'Old World Radio - Boston' umbrella).

The Wattz Laser Rifle mod is also top-notch if you want a clean, good-looking, moddable, lore-friendly, and powerful-without-being-broken laser weapon option.

The modern weapons mod was fun last time I messed with it. Also makes gunfights more deadly because the time to kill with these guns is insanely low. We're talking an unlucky shot could spell game over for you. Really fun lol
Wild ARMs is still the best JRPG series in my opinion and we desperately need a new game in the series!
  1. Unofficial Fallout 4 Patch https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4598
  2. Vivid Fallout - All In One https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/25714
  3. FlaconOil's Complete Retexture Project https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/3747
  4. True Storms - Wasteland Edition https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/4472

And, while I wouldn't recommend it for a first playthrough, if you want to make the map more green there's:
  1. A Forest https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/45330

I love A Forest because it completely changes the look and feel of the map from brown wasteland to everything being overrun by greenery.

Some kind of minor/QoL ones that I use:

Vivid Weathers

WestTek Tactical Optics

Remove Ammo from Dropped Guns (saves you the trouble of picking up and dropping guns you don't want for the sake of taking the ammo out of them)

See Through Scopes

No NPC Greetings

Manufacturing Extended

Improved Maps with Visible Roads

FO4 Hotkeys

FAR - Faraway Area Reform

FallUI - Sleep and Wait

Enhanced Lights and FX

DEF UI

Carry More with Power Armor (if you're using backpacks or pocketed armor, Power Armor actually reduces how much you can carry, so this is mostly to counteract that)
I know most will turn their nose at the suggestion of Creation Club content, but Coffee and Donuts is pretty darn great.

Also, you should be able to get all of the best Enclave Creations (X-02 PA, Hellfire PA, Heavy Incinerator, and Tesla Cannon) for free with the latest update, as well as some other goodies. The two Grenade Launchers added by the Makeshift Weapons pack are awesome.

So how'd the modding go?

Probably a mod for that, lol.

And like a previous poster said you'll definitely want No NPC Greetings if repetitive dialogue gets under your skin (I use a mod called Hush it - Heavy Version on consoles, but I assume they're pretty much the same thing).
