We'll be renting a SUV and plan on trekking on at least part of the Ring Road if not most of it.

Planning on both--a volcanic crater is apparently very active at the moment. I hear the Blue Lagoon is a tourist pit but I'm going to at least check it out once anyway

Theyre tourist pits for a reason, imo. Definitely worth checking out.

No doubt. There's only going to be like three hours of daylight while I'm there and I read there aren't any street lamps outside the cities. I hope no major storms hit while I'm driving
