Weird how fast time flies. He died having a heart attack shoveling snow. Its amazing how vividly I remember that day and going to the hospital and being told the news. And how now since then Ive gotten married and had 2 kids.

I dont get too upset about it anymore although I did get a little bummed a few months ago about how my kids wont get to play with him and my son said Well maybe next time grandpa will just come over. Which was cute but sad.

Hug your loved ones CE. Shoot them a text or do a 10 minute call. Itll be worth it.
I used to be a blackjack dealer on a riverboat named Black Sally's Apple. It was a very low point in my life

My dad will have died 5 years ago on the 27th. It's always weird to come home and not see him in his chair through the front window.

My dad died on this day, the 19th January, in 2019. He was only 70. He died of a heart attack whilst in hospital for a bowel obstruction, which he got once or twice a year due to the medications he was on for his Parkinson's. His specialist said for him it would have been like turning off an old style black and white tv, where the picture reduced down to a dot in the center of the screen before turning off. His heart attack wasn't violent. He was found sitting in his hospital chair. It looked like he dozed off.

Did no one notice? My mom had a heart attack at the hospital for other reasons and the only reason she's alive today is because that's where she was. That's really rough because it's the best place he could have been too :(

No, no one noticed. The nurse saw him sitting there but thought he was sleeping, which he sometimes did (at home, I'm not sure about in hospital).

Even if they had noticed there was nothing they would, or more accurately could, have done as he has already signed the do not revive papers.

He lived with Parkinson's for just under 40 years. He was in and out of hospitals at least 3-4 times a year, sometimes for weeks or months on end. He had to take medications every 4 hours, even during the night. The medications amounted to 160 tablets per day give or take a couple.

He'd had enough. He signed the do not revive paperwork about 3 years prior to his passing.
