is this game fun
I spend wayyy too much time thinking about Red Steel 2
Yes

I played it years ago on the PS2, but I remember liking it.

it's the first game to make me understand the importance of buffs/debuffs.

Yeah it's pretty fun.

Just don't give up when you get to a certain boss.

same i loved how wild the battles can get just from those while most basic rpg you can power thru and not bother with them
nocturn is the best SMT game from the series and i love it's atmosphere and world design so yeah it's fun if you enjoy rpg that are challenging where if you aren't careful you can get nuked by random enemies
speaking of which do note if you hate old rpg mechanic like random battle then you will have a bad time cuz this game random battle rate isn't the worst i have seen but it's pretty up there for people who can't stand one

I haven't played it since the ps2 era but I remember it fondly.

It would never take advantage of our innate gullibility
Thank you for taking the time to read this sig.
This sig loves you.
Great game, you should expect to be wrecked by rng and bullshit constantly.

And for your own sanity, play with a guide.

June 10, 2018. The day Dante returned to us. Do what you want, just don't expect to get paid.

There's like 12 "certain bosses" lol

I liked it a lot at the time, but haven't played it in almost 20 years.
Battle system is fun, but game isn't my thing. I prefer a core party, not having a ton of options to swap around as needed. Same reason I bounced off of Pokemon. I would build a team of 6 early on, then never capture anything again.
The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
Great game. Buffing, debuffing, and the very occasional grinding makes everything doable. Keep fusing and never get too attached to one demon

People like to overrate the difficulty of the SMTs and act superior to Persona fans, but at the end of the day, they're all just turn-based JRPG. None of them is "hard". In fact, the secret boss of P3 is much "harder" than the one from Nocturne if you're not using a guide

Thats only because the protagonist of Nocture is a secret boss himself.

I stopped playing it because I was planning on fighting all the optional bosses and trying to get more than one ending, but I just fuckin' hate that bonus dungeon and encounter rate.

People talk about Matador for being a knowledge check filter but man motherfuck Mother Harlot.

Wrong game for that though

Estoma (I think that's the spell?) is your friend. The guy in that dungeon sells you a Pisaca that has it, along with some other support skills
Was always more of a Digital Devil Saga guy for the PS2 press turn megatens
She/They, no substitutions~
It is a fantastic game, but sweet Lucifer, the random encounters can fuck all the way off.

Every time I do a run, I'm ready to chuck my controller at a wall after my 4th random encounter in as many steps.
Doesn't take a lot of brains to be a good fighter.

Sounds more tedious than fun
Masterpiece. Especially the remaster when you can choose what skills to inherit instead of praying to RNGeezus
