I don't think this is because of Trump. It's because they challenged the peace of a senior official of the college. You don't disturb the powers that be.

The GOP voted for it.
Those that didn't vote have shown they don't care either way.

The Democrats, well, a good chunk of them have been demoralized by 15 months of a portion of the party screaming how EVIL and VILE Democratic politicians are. Which leads them to believe that there's no point in stopping Trump, as it's better than Genocide Joe and Killer Kamala.

And the rest of the Democratic party is absolutely furious at these bomb-throwers. "Better the enemy you expect than the one you don't." -type of deal.

So there's no one left *TO* get out and protest. Or organize a protest.

Pro-Palestine protestors were brutalized and punished by universities so much in early 2024, in red and blue states. In fact, I wouldnt be surprised if that treatment further alienated some of these students from voting Democrat or otherwise. Regardless, its very unfortunate to see this come to pass.

Michigan has a statue up and a building named after a football coach that sent players to be sexually assaulted when they complained about concussions. Not a great university at all.

Harris shot herself in the foot with Arab Americans in SE Michigan when she came to campaign. Some pro-Palestinian folks tried to get her to weigh in on the issue in a substantial way. Her response: "I'm speaking." Pure condescension and it was on t-shirts being sold all over Detroit by the next morning.
