This has a 5120 x 1440 resolution screen.

I don't understand what would even be the point of owning one unless you're a hammerhead shark.

I just don't get it. :/

Anyone care to explain?
Immersion and more screen space. I have an ultrawide monitor (3440 x 1440) and I would never consider going back to more traditional sizes. The monitor posted seems excessive but if I had the cash I would consider it.

I have one like that. It's amazing for the strategy games I tend to play, ie Civ, Crusader Kings, Victoria, etc.

Driving in cockpit pov would be amazing if I must say so myself. It be the closest thing to the illusion of 3D without it actually being 3D
HERRO EvryBody. HOW ARE YOU? FINE OKAY!
There are plenty of reasons to use one. If your into Racing sims, or want something different for WoW, this is for you. If your an architect, all that extra space is awesome. And I'm sure there are addons that will allow you to split up the screen into smaller screens.
I know tons of people who use 3 monitor setups on simulator games. This is just a better streamlined version of that.

So how would watching a movie look on something like this?

Probably pretty good? It's like a screen in a movie theater, just instead of really big and far away, it's much smaller (relatively speaking) and up close.

The point is being able to go on every single game forum and whine about black bars (aka the game not supporting your resolution).
Arguing on CE be all like:

I can understand how this would be better than a triple monitor setup, but all of the window snapping is going to suck.

Nah, window snapping is excellent with Microsoft's PowerToys tool.

I installed two of these for a client. Absolute overkill for a doctors office.
I hate curved monitors.
