I mean people have been getting HURT over these songs, like physically hurt. Musicians banned from arenas for playing the song or even being affiliated, etc.. lmao
yes
Biggie and Tupac say hi.

Well, they would.

They mostly just kind of sit there and skellyboi, since their beef ended in like 8 bodies.

was gonna mention Jay-Z and Nas but i dont think it got that deep... lol
Considering past beefs have resulted in literal gunshot murders I would say that is worse than hurt feelings with words and someone not playing your song but in the past social media didn't exist so it wasn't quite as in the public eye as much I'll give you that.

Welcome to the 80s through early 2000s when they would actually try to(and occasionally succeed at) kill each other in public after actually saying they would.

if you mean by how beefs can affect others, pretty much every city has rappers dissing dead ops, or people close to them, and that often leads to a bunch of killings.

the beef between Foolio and Yungeen Ace was a really bad one, which had a lot of negative publicity.

East Coast vs West Coast rappers in the 80's and 90's led to multiple deaths and attempted murder.

So.... yeah. >_>

the question wasn't how bad the beef was, it was how public it is. this one hit the superbowl halftime show, I don't see any beef ever having hit the publicity of this one

This. Even the Biggie /Tupac beef, which may have been more serious, wasnt as known to old white folk.
Let's get down to brass tacks. How much for the ape?
Their moms hugged at the VMAs, a lot of people knew about it.

This. How many people can say they've had multiple diss tracks in the top played songs in America/the world? A minor is a punchline that literal children are singing. The thing that makes it even better is that this isn't even beef between two "gangster" rappers and people are still getting hurt over it.

There are even lawsuits filed over this lmao

And the murderers still technically haven't been found.

Tupac's is still on trial now.

idk if Tupac was killed because of the beef - it's rumored that Diddy might be partly responsible, but the guy who killed him was unrelated to it, and is believed to have killed him because Tupac jumped him in Vegas.

for Biggie, it's believed that he was killed in retaliation for Tupac's death, though.

Actually, there was a public murder committed during this beef too. It happened about half an hour after Drake released Family Matters.

i think someone in Drake's camp got shot, but it was OVO/XO beef and not Kendrick related beef.

it's still kinda funny after Drake dropped push ups all the other rappers kinda bowed out of the beef and let Kendrick handle it

Dimebag Darrell and Phil Anselmo.

Arguably it cost Dimebag (along with 3 other people) his life due to some lunatic shooting him while he was on stage.

...I mean you're not wrong but historically I don't think metal musicians are considered to have "beef," it's pretty genre-specific.

Though if we are we could also bring up Vark or whoever that black metal dude was, but I can't remember enough of the details of that crime and the guy's too pathetic for me to bother researching.

East Coast vs West Coast was VERY public. It had multiple rappers doing diss tracks about a bunch of other rappers.

They just didn't have the benefit of being able to record a track and release it to a billion people literally that night. But there were multiple songs and albums all about the rivalry.

Oh I just remembered after Foolio got murdered one on the opposing side made a song about it.

Yeah and in 95 when Snoop went off on the East Coast during the Source Awards which was a HUGE event in the hip-hop community. It was nationally televised and a really big thing. While the overall viewers don't match the Super Bowl I wouldn't doubt within the hip-hop community if the viewers were comparable. It was an all night shitstorm that kicked off a chain of events.

Had social media existed then online would have absolutely blown up. I was 19 then and remember how big of a thing this was. People forget how powerful and widespread shit like MTV was back then and some of the stuff these guys would say and do in interviews and how the music world was hanging on it.
