The political spectrum has grown to be so all-encompassing, everything puts you either left or right on the scale. It used to just be if you vote left/right, that basically seals the deal. But now,

You dye your hair, you get lib points
You go hunting, you get conservative points
You bake something, that's lib points
You fire up the smoker, that's conservative points
Wearing Nike SB Dunks- liberal +5
Wearing Sperry's- conservative +5

Existing is "political" depending on your sex/gender or skin color. So yeah, the culture war is doing it's job of keeping people too divided.

The concept of distinguishing between "political" and not has been weaponized. Someone says something vile and bigoted? They can use "political disagreement" as a shield from any pushback. Someone has to be reminded that minorities exist? They can pretend they're being persecuted by having "politics" "shoved down their throat".

There's no point even playing their game anymore. Everything is politics and nothing is politics.
