I don't think there's any primary problem with Xbox's game library. The Xbox Series S/X are suffering due to brand identity and network effect. Xbox lost the PS4/Xbone generation so hard that the amount of people in the PSN ecosystem is way higher, and the PS5 launch wasn't nearly bad enough for most people to consider incurring the costs of leaving that ecosystem.
Such costs being stuff like not having the same platform as your friends, your existing accessories / platform investments not carrying over, unfamiliarity with the new platform, changing your consumer identity.
History shows that killer exclusives aren't enough to win console wars in light of other factors, they can help encourage first time entrants to choose which to adopt, but we're beyond those times in a lot of ways. And a lot of the games that make kids want something to play on are multiplatform multiplayer games like Fortnite.
The Switch 2 doesn't directly position itself against the PS5 or Xbox, it's a handheld + home console in one that is only competed against by niche items like the Steam Deck. It's not a radical enough departure to alienate the existing base but is a significant upgrade in terms of specs. It actually has very little going against it except these game prices, which unfortunately a lot of industry analysts have been expecting to go up due to several pressures
I get what you are saying, and yeah it is true that nintendo really aims for a different gaming crown with the switch.
However this time its a bit different than what the switch was going for. While the switch 2 still has portability for it, it's specs is beefed up a bit to where its not too far off from the series s, and I believe I read that its more capable than the steam deck (not absolutely sure on this one).
Its inevitable because of it's new specs and price that there will be some consumers that is going to compare it with the other consoles despite the portability and take into consideration the price for the console, the price for the games, and the price to get more space to install more games.
After all the 3DS was also a follow up to nintendo's most popular portable system ever the DS and that really did stumble out the gate. Its possible that portability just isn't going to be that automatic buy like it was with the weaker but way cheaper switch.
We will have to wait and see, but just let it be known that I have no problem and will freely admit I don't know nothin' about nothin' if the switch 2 is a huge stupid success that flies off the shelves at it's current price, lol.
