I would say this differently. I would say every other form of entertainment is gouging its base.

The $449 price was announced before the latest tariffs, so what will be the real price now?

Between the tariffs and what they'll do to the economy, it seems a bad time to launch a new console.

and they played awful. They weren't all GBA games, there were also NES ports of Punch out, which sounds amazing until you find out the input lag was through the roof. Made it impossible to knock out Tyson.

I don't think people waiting for the OLED model really understand how expensive that's going to be. 120hz and OLED? Guaranteed if that were to launch right now that Switch 2 price would be at least 700 dollars, or close to it.

Thats not exactly what happened.

Nintendo slashed the price of the 3DS a few months after launch due to low sales. Just so the early adopters didnt feel slighted they offered the ambassador program.

I'll believe it when we get sales numbers. That said, them delaying the pre order because of tariffs is a wrench in the gears for sure
If the console underperforms internal expectations, I think broader market conditions / consumer confidence & willingness to buy luxuries at all will play a bigger role than the current pricing of the system.

Anyway, I have a feeling that it probably will be more like the first few months of sales did good enough to call it a success, but due to various factors, it's still not as good as what Nintendo hoped for, and it will take a while until they can reach their projected sales.
