Yeah it's huge. I went to see Mickey 17 last night and there were so many people at the theater for Minecraft. Most likely people that haven't been to a theater in a long time. Even my Mickey 17 showing had a full theater which is crazy cuz its like 4 weeks into its run+wasn't advertised well.

I will say tho that the Minecraft crowd was making a mess of the space. The restrooms were awful. Trash on the floor in the hallways. Really rowdy crowd.

As in "I'm not sure how many <10 year olds post on Rotten Tomatoes," not that kids are unable to or incapable of rating movies.

If they do so, it's probably not on the usual audience score aggregators that get posted here and therefore probably not including in the sample.

Minecraft is the most popular game among children.

Hard to believe this might (or did it already) surpass the Mario movie as the single highest grossing video game movie. Mario had the advantage of being enjoyed by kids and having nostalgia for adults. Minecraft movie is being soley carried by the power of "Moooom, can we go see Minecraft?!"

I remember years ago, where this kid was showing off his 360 and Minecraft.

now that kid is a grown ass man, and I imagine there are many like him who will go watch the movie out of nostalgia.

Im really surprised the projections were so low. Its Minecraft! I figured it would make a billion easily, despite the poor reaction to the first trailer.

I watched it Saturday with my spouse and our son. We met up with her mom and her two nephews. The boys absolutely loved it, and us adults found ourselves laughing throughout the entire movie. It was a lot of fun, and well most likely go see it again.

From what I heard, it does the actual concept of Minecraft incredibly well. And this was from someone that didn't care a whole lot for the movie overall.
