I had a lot going on when it released and only just am getting caught up on the MCU.
The early movie I felt was good, they handled a lot of the emotional impact of losing T'Challa well, though I am a strong believer that they should have recast T'Challa instead of killing him off but his send off was good.
The Riri Williams stuff in the mid point felt completely unnecessary and came across like she was introduced in the movie not so much because she worked well in the movie but rather they threw her in just to get her origin story out of the way. She just felt superfluous to the film and detracted from the more interesting stories going on in the film.
Regarding Namor, mostly I think they should have made him more of an asshole but I get they don't want audiences to hate him since they probably want him to be a sometimes good guy. Perhaps cutting Riri out and using that time to further develop Namor and Talokan would have been a good idea.
Finally, Shuri becoming Black Panther felt unearned. I never really viewed her as a fighter in the first movie so when she was fighting Namor at the end here, I don't know, it was hard to buy.
Overall the movie was alright but the beginning of the film definitely was the highlight to me.
The commercial says that Church isn't for perfect people, I guess that's why I'm an atheist.
