If its good I have 100+ hours of entertainment free of charge.
He just means it's a subscription and doesn't have to buy all the games to try them.
Can I buy oblivion as a stand alone game without subscription? I looked for it at the store and couldnt find it anywhere.

If you're gonna just buy the game, I don't see why you don't do through Steam >_>Xbox is just the only platform for which I can answer the question.
Gamepass ultimate isn't worth $20. Only reason I pay it is because that's the only way I can play newer games or games I can't afford.
It's not free tho
Game Pass doesn't cost anything?
Ah, yes. I also enjoyed getting my free issues of Nintendo Power in the mail for $42 a year. Subscriptions ftw.
That said, PC Game Pass can fuck right off. Every game I've played on PC Game Pass has been buggy or won't even load, even on my new computer.
Did you use a "debloat" Windows scripts, or something along those lines? If so, they probably removed necessary things.
FWIW, I've never had any problem running any PC Gamepass games.

Eh.
It gets free eventually if you use the point system with Windows 10/11/Xbox.
Worst case you can put on 2 games on while doing the searches if you are an optimizer.
I have... Paid 2 months total I think since the launch of Xbox Series X.
The only extra since the recentish revamp is playing 8 different games from Gamepass per month for 15 minutes each, no need to care about achievements these days.

On rare occasions games shutting down.

Finished Kunitsu-gami. What a trip. Got kind of annoying towards the end but it was worth it. Been a while since I've played a game with such a good soundtrack, made me nostalgic for a world I've never been to.
Playing Wartales now, no idea wtf I'm doing, getting shanked to death by poison hobos everywhere I go, but I'm sure I'll figure it out.
That's a you problem. Never had any problems with any games on gamepass.
Steam is still better because it's easier for modding and because anything Xbox-related stores files in really weird places in Windows. Trying to find the right folder to drop a mod into or edit a config file is like trying to find a needle in a haystack. No idea why Microsoft made their game files so fucked up when they are the ones who literally made Windows.
But if you just want Netflix for gaming and don't mind not owning all the games you play, gamepass is pretty great. The selection is a bit thin at the moment though.
Will my saved games from gamer pass be playable on Steam's version?
I mean it's cool if you don't mind having nothing to show for any of it in 10 years and no re-sell value.
Me - I buy the games I want and own them.
I don't know what's so hard to understand that Gamepass lets you try the games first before you decide to buy them.

Because you spend money when you can just...research. So they get money from your sub, then your money from your sale. Why not just cut that first part out? Stuff like Steam provides 2 hour windows or 2 weeks of owning a game before not allowing refunds. Pretty sure Sony is the worst company for refunds but I'm pretty sure MS is decent with them.
But you get a nice selection of games to try out without having to spend money on each and every one of them, then try to decide in 2 hours if it's for you. Some people act like it's costing an arm and a leg when 20 bucks isn't really that much.
I've done stuff like that in the past.
