Got an Oculus Rift CV1 years ago and the novelty wore off quick. I can't remember the last time I used it but for the longest time it was a dedicated Google Earth VR device.

nope. i would like one but then i know after the first few months i'd probably barely even use it. had a chance to buy the original psvr when i knew someone selling it for i forget. maybe like half price or maybe a bit less but didn't bother. if i got one i'd much rather it work on pc.

No. I'd really love to play Alyx, but I find it hard to justify buying such expensive junk to play one game.

I also get motion sick playing first person games, VR might make me outright vomit. Hell, speaking of Half-Life, a LP channel I follow has been playing through them recently and just watching her play it has made me motion sick.

i straight up do not know where my headset is.

i know where the controllers are, but the actual headset? nope.

i used it, quest 2, to just fuck around and trying various things, then it just became a beat saber machine, and then that just made me want to play guitar hero and ive been searching for a cheap sub $40 guitar for like a year now.

I have a Quest 2 and 3S. Enjoyed Alyx, Batman: Arkham Shadow, Moss 1 & 2, Resident Evil 4, Walking Dead Saints & Sinners, and some other horror games. Getting a better head strap was a game changer for me, because the default one is just some painful bondage that I'm not into.

Yeah a Quest 3. I really love it. I go through waves of playing it. Batman Arkham Shadow is legit. Same with Asgards Wraith 2, RE4 VR (legit the best way to play OG RE4, it's soooo fun) and stuff like Pistol Whip and Super Hot.

I'll get one eventually just for the Resident Evil series just haven't really gotten around to it. Not really a cost issue I just never have the motivation to get one lol.

Yeah I've had an Index since late 2020. It's gimmicky as hell but still fun here and there in VRChat, Rec Room (I don't chat there since I'm pretty sure the average age of players is like 13), and a few VR games like Blade & Sorcery

People who think its just a gimmick genuinely have no idea what the fuck they are talking about. Maybe at one point this was true, but not anymore. Not when you can play a full scale Arkham game that plays like Arkham should play, but makes YOU Batman. Not when you have 100 hour RPGS. Not when you can do what Ive been doing the past few days which is this:

There is something magical about being INSIDE a game. Seeing the world at full scale and in perfect 3D as if youre the player character. Driving through Los Santos and being behind the wheel, looking around behind you and seeing in the back seat..getting out and looking up at giant sky scrapers.

But fuck GTAthere are tons of amazing VR games that are full on games, not experienced, and the library is growing every day. Also, its by far the best way to feel like youre watching a movie in a giant theatre from home. Its not even close:

I do, but it's basically for me and my fiance to play Beat Saber. I tried Boderlands 2 thinking it'd be the shit, but the controls are just awful. I could probably get used to it if I played enough, but it's not going to be the same as just using a controller.

Yea I own a PSVR2. It's great tech wise and the few games that use it well are fun but I get motion sickness after using it. I gave it to my nephew and he loves it.

I have a PSVR1 and 2. I love the PSVR2 but it really is just the GT7 VR headset.

Though once I get a better bluetooth antenna on my PC it'll be more realistic to use it on my PC though. Currently it only stays connected if I hold the controllers like 1-2 ft from my tower.

Which one do you have? And the apple one is the very worst example. Its horribly overpriced and not at all built for gaming.

I'm on the side that says I don't think it's a gimmick at all. It's an amazing experience and can be used for more than just gaming, but it doesn't have full development power behind it to take advantage and it also doesn't help that it requires the users to get "VR legs" first. When it's just as expensive as a console for a budget headset but many users also experience dizziness/nausea, that's a big ask and a hurdle to becoming more widespread.

gaming is not the be all end all.

the point is that even apple has tried, the one company who actually has the power to make something mainstream and accepted, and the die hard apple enthusiast whales didn't even buy into the fuckin thing.

VR 'stuff' is so bizarre tbh.
