I Just Found Out There's No Such Thing as the Real World

Okay, so maybe Im late to the party, but I just had one of those everything is a lie moments. I was reading about how reality is basically subjective filtered through our brains, biases, and personal experiences and it hit me: theres no one real world. Everyones version is different.

Were all walking around thinking were living in the same reality, but really? Its just overlapping illusions based on perception, memory, culture, etc. Even science is filtered through interpretation and consensus. The real world is more of an agreement than a fact.

But there is Road Rules!

There is a real world. We interact with it all the time. Our individual perception of that world is suspect, but the world itself is still there either way. If you probe the same thing in the same way you'll get the same result because there is something there that the probe is responding to.

In reality, we're more akin to being blind. A blind man can walk around their house and learn the location of things through touch and smell and sound, etc. They can build a mental "image" or map of the world around them. But without sight, touch alone will give him limited precision, and some information is simply inaccessible to him. You wouldn't claim the house doesn't exist just because he can't perceive the colors, or because his personal measurements are an inch off.

There is a real world, but our perceptions of that world are unique to each of us. For example, what I think of as a green leaf may look very different to what you think a green leaf looks like, but we can measure the light coming off of it and determine its wavelength objectively.

If you want another fun one, it takes a fraction of a second for our brain to perceive what we sense. As such, what we think of as the present is actually a tiny bit in the past, it's already happened.
