Hypothetical, you have two front row tickets to see your all time favorite artist. You can sell the tickets for $5000. Would you go or sell them?

I'm not a huge music person to begin with, but the idea of going to a concert actively repulses me.

I don't even think I have an artist I'd consider my favorite. And even if I did, I am not a concert person.

Money. I don't really care about seeing performances in-person, or in general.
Going to the concert will be a more exciting experience to me than spending the money.

5K is a lot. Plus I saw Radiohead a long time ago. I doubt they go for 5K now anywhere to see them live, but I might be a wrong (heh). So I'd flip them. Sporting events go for more than that now. Also I just meh not sure with my anxiety too. Sucks I have to think about this shit.

Also not my favorite artist, but was thinking of a big name band too.
Today's the same as ever.
I guess it depends on the scenario. Most of my favorite artists I can see at small clubs and easily get to the front for a fraction of that cost.

If in this scenario, my favorite artist isn't dead (Prince), I wouldn't have bought the tickets for $5000, but the tickets would be more valuable to me than the $5000 so I wouldn't sell

I got to see 'em already, so I'll take the money.
As much as I enjoy music,I don't really like watching it live, and I could have a lot more fun with the $5000.
I only appear to be out of line because I am the only one who is in line.
I mean, is the hypothetical totally as is or does it conform to laws of reality? Because in reality, the only way youre getting front row at a metal show is if you get there early and stand in line for most of the afternoon / evening waiting for them to open the door.

So realistically, theres no such thing as front row tickets, and I may as well sell them for $5000, use the money to buy tickets at regular price, and get there early and stand in line $4500+ richer.

If it magically conforms to the hypothetical, Id see the show.

I could have just picked an indie band, but what band like that is selling for 5k. I am not even sure if Blink 182 even sells for that much so my obscure reference (Return Fire clip) Also I could take the money and then just give it to the band. The independent actual band.

uh dude the way to get front row at a metal show is to hop in the pit and go to the front row

maybe you don't get all the way there from the front of the pit so you crowdsurf a bit to get the rest of the way

I'd probably sell them for $500 tbh. Less than that, I'd be seriously considering going. Of course, I'd have to work out who actually counts as my "favorite artist" first; I don't tend to like artists, just specific songs. Occasionally there'll be an artist I like a lot of stuff by, but it's still usually far from all of their stuff (probably the strongest contender there is High And Mighty Color; I'd say I like probably about 70% of what I've heard from them, and no other artist even comes close to that unless I've literally only heard one or two songs).
(2025-02-24) Not changing my sig until I feel like it.
i assume someone is actually offering me $5,000 for the tickets? because there's no way i make the effort to sell them otherwise, and i'd never assume they'd sell for that much.

also my favorite artist is Harry chapin who died in the 80s.

In general front row tickets don't seem that appealing to me. I feel like you won't get to see the full stage.

That being said, I would absolutely go to the show, if I had front row tickets to see Ayreon

Id sell them.

Its not a huge amount of money or anything, but Im not even sure who my favourite artist is. Couldnt even name you a top 5.

Also, have felt no desire to go to a concert for years. Enjoyed them when I was younger, but I feel those days are solidly behind me.
I would sell them, especially if you had to stand. If youre sitting down, thats one thing, but standing in the front is not my thing.
Money easily. I don't really care how loud and overstimulating most live concerts are.

i mean right now.. I'm unemployed and need the money.
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.
I have never gone to a concert where any seat was that expensive. Most dont have any seats and those that did had GA be most expensive.

So the venue likely sucks and I wont like the show much and would be better off selling and using the money to buy tickets to a lot of other concerts that Id be interested in.

This. Doesn't help that all the artists I'd make an exception for are dead.

Sell the tickets.

Two reasons. One, I've already seen both of my favorite artists live (Metallica and Loreena McKennitt) multiple times. Second, front row is usually just a recipe for neck pain becaise of how high a stage is compared to how close you are to it.

This. Praetor's comment deeply confused me.

My favourite band never plays live and is infamously reclusive/secretive, so the chance to see them perform would be well worth it.

+1

And front row is a little overrated... it's hard to take it all in at once. You're constantly turning your head looking at what the band members are doing.
