NJPW wrestler Hirooki Goto to reportedly play E Honda in Street Fighter movie

Clearly either the casting director or the main director must be a huge pro wrestling fan. I could understand a normal director wanting Cody Rhodes and Roman Reigns because they're huge international stars in WWE, but it takes a real wrestling nerd to want to get Hirooki Goto. Even if he did win the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship this year, Goto is far from a household name outside of Japan.

Now I want to see an AEW wrestler get cast to complete this forbidden door of wrestling crossovers, and you just know Kenny Omega would be begging for a spot in this. Dude's been in multiple Street Fighter commercials in the past and has a good relationship with Capcom.

I have very low expectations for this movie.

Every news about this movie making me having less faith that it would be good.

I have no idea what the fuck this movie is going to be

I have a feeling this the type of movie that's gonna build up to Ryu doing a hadouken once in the last act.

If this is this generations Dragon Ball Evolution itll be amazing. Mostly for the fact that something like that could get made today.

The more I hear about it, the more I feel like "so bad it's good" is the best possible outcome but also not a likely one.

Is he going to wear a fat suit, he's never looked like a sumo wrestler.

Getting an actual sekitori is rough if they have to commit for more than a few weeks. Maybe someone recently retired could work; Terunofuji was a beast.

It's kind of awesome that they're cast pro wrestlers for these over the top fighting game characters.

It would be criminal if Omega doesn't get something though. Something like Alex comes to mind, even if he's a bit older than the character.

Agreed, Omega getting in would be really cool and it would suck if he didn't get cast for anything at this rate. I did see another AEW-related casting idea in the Reddit thread that I think might be interesting: Toni Storm as Cammy.
