Wanting a cheap tv for the bedroom to replace a 37" I've had since 2015.

Why should I care about a cheap tv lacking things like local dimming or whatever. Any cheap 4k would be an instant upgrade. But here I am overthinking what I already told myself is meant to be a cheap tv that won't even be used every day

Cause you use tvs for 10 years or more.

Ehh, doesn't feel like price corresponds to longevity. You're paying more for features

I didn't say longevity. I'm talking about having a better quality screen for longer.

Divide that extra cash per year and see if it matters to you, if it does then don't buy one.

The gap between a good MiniLED or OLED screen to some budget LCD is pretty big, but if you don't care then I'm not going to tell someone to spend that much more.

Yeah, I get it.
I think for me, TV quality is one of those things I've never been able to really notice large differences in ( and I also haven't really attempted to learn tbh)

So true lmao.

For me, my big issue with online reviews is whether or not theyre genuine.

Like, if I see a bad review for something, one of my first thoughts is oh well that person is probably just some idiot who doesnt know how to use it properly but then if I see a positive review Im like hmmm what if they were just paid to leave a good review?
Tell my tale to those who ask. Tell it truly, the ill deeds, along with the good, and let me be judged accordingly. The rest.. is silence.
Yeah, I really hate that purchasing anything means going down a rabbit hole before being paralysed by fear that you have somehow missed out and will be judged.

I try and make a conscious effort just to make a decision, be happy with it, and avoid reviews.

And here I am, secretly wishing for my tv to die for the last 2 years so I have an excuse to try out the projection tv I picked up cheap a few years ago.
The ball is round, the game lasts 90 minutes. That's fact.
Everything else, is theory.
I have exactly two strategies for buying a tv.

I let a friend do all the research when buying their tv and just buy the same thing from the same place.

Just go to the store and get whatever is on a good sale.

Both work pretty well.

I have had nothing but cheap TVs for my entire 50 years on this Earth, and only one has been a dud.
