Can't believe they made Samus a mommyDommy mommy Samus.
Trash game*shrugs*
I found nothing redeeming in the game at all. Everything was bad. And I'm a huge huge Metroid fanIt was nice to look at. Seeing some of the old designs in 3D was cool.

If you actually play to the end, the story kinda fixes itself to a degree. I always found it weird that people got so fixated on what was clearly just a means of barring your upgrades off and giving them back to you incrementally.

I agree that at the end of the day it's just a mechanic to reset Samus to base, but in practice it created weird situations like having access to Lava areas that will literally kill you if you stay in there too long, AND having the suit upgrade that could keep you from taking damage, but not being allowed to use it because some guy over the radio says you can't. I get restricting immediate access to things like super missiles, but there needed to be a better reason for why Samus couldn't activate the defensive capabilities up front.Regarding the bolded part, it was actually Samus's decision to restrict herself when she arrived, not Adam's. It still doesn't make any logical sense to disabling the suit's basic defenses and offenses, though.

here is a good reason
the suit gets damaged ala prime 1
and adam is working on restoring functions (so that samus can focus on exploring rather than doing various programing things with her suit)
samus goes to the heated area despite the danger and it gets turned online in time for the boss

By far the worst game in the series.Federation Force?
Federation Force?Nobody knows if that game is better or worse because nobody played it
Federation Force?Depends what you consider "worst game in the series." Is it worst because it just doesn't play like a Metroid game at all? Then sure, it'd probably be alongside Prime Pinball in that regard. But as an actual game it's actually a pretty fun Metroid-themed extraction shooter. Just came out at a really bad time. Though having said that, though it can be played single-player it's clearly designed with co-op multiplayer in mind, and the online for 3DS is dead so it can't be used anymore.
Why did Samus cross the road? The TRUE real answer:
To get to the Other M.
The real answer:
Because Adam told her to
Fusion will always have the best reason for Samus resetting her suit.Fusion was brilliant in pretty much every way. Love that game.
^Also didn't help that storytelling wasn't great either, leading to confusion on what certain scenes were supposed to be interpreted as.The only thing Sakamoto thought was, "Hey, wouldn't it be interesting if Samus was suddenly ambush-attacked by someone? And then plot twist, we find out it was Adam!" You're right, it was just there as a "plot twist" scene just to surprise the audience. It's just shit writing from a shit writer.
And also that doesn't fix my main issue with the final meeting with Adam, which is...the way he stopped Samus from killing herself by going into Sector Zero was, in itself, a risky maneuver that could've gotten her killed anyway. She was about to kill a Metroid in front of her, suddenly gets shot in the back that disables her suit, which makes her MORE vulnerable to the Metroid's attack, before he freezes it and kills it. Now, I wouldn't mind this if he somehow knew for a fact that particular Metroid could be frozen. Maybe that's what he says in the Japanese script. But in the English script, when Samus asks about it, HE MAKES A FUCKING GUESS. That means he didn't know for certain that Metroid could've been frozen, so what would've happened if the Metroid couldn't be frozen and his little stunt helped kill the very person he was trying to protect? Fucking dumb.
The scene was literally only there to give players a shock on "oh no the Deleter finally came after Samus" without thinking how logically, that action doesn't make sense for Adam to do. It'd be better if that Metroid wasn't there at all so Samus wouldn't be in danger, but I'd still think it a dick move for him to do.

At least the commercial was radThis shit fucks. I still remember it all these years later. Stuff like this gave me hope that Nintendo could still be cool after the dark ages of Wii Music and the like.
