just finished DK bananza , my overall thoughts *spoilers*

i give it a 7/10

really fun at first but overstays its welcome. Finished with 685 bananas found (but once I got to the Tempest layer I stopped trying to get all of them) Didn't like the K Rool ass pull, seemed lame to me. And the fight against him was also lame.

The bananza powers are kinda... eh. Zebra was almost never used. Snake + Ostrich is really strong and honestly made a LOT of the challenge courses laughable. Elephant basically completely outclasses the Kong bananza unless there's concrete which was pretty rare.

Probably won't ever play this one again

this is not a ganondorf situation where he is built up

he just shows up

I have very different feelings on it - understays its welcome and would have liked a few more layers, including layers based on DKC and DK64. And NDC to be playable in post-game. But that's coming from someone who liked this game A LOT.

I liked it a lot at first but it got way too repetitive. If they added more abilities to spend skill points on it could have been more engaging but so many things just completely outclass other things. Once I got Zebra and beyond I don't think I ever turf surfed again unless it was an accidental button press.

Yeah and then he falcon punches Void kong away and he never appears again (in the main story, again, I didn't do post game). I was honestly expecting him to show up and help you beat K Rool in a "fuck this guy" situation but nope.

seriously if you want to do a hijacked by ganon (krool in this case) in your story he still needs to be part of your plot

it dont take much for it to work

it could have been as simple as void kong was working for k rool and hints a few times "when i find the big guy your in real trouble"

granted having k rool falcon punch him would still be lame but at least k rool would not come from no where

To be fair, Void Kong kind of devalues himself as a villain before K. Rool shows up... The couple fights with him are him just running and hiding and his two employees leave him before he gets suckerpunched by K. Rool...

I think it would've been more of an ass pull to suddenly have Void Kong be a threat...

I feel like there is some kind of foreshadowing that Void Kong wasn't gonna be the final big bad. As mentioned above, all he does in his fights is run away from you. His two minions also quit and stop working for him as you progress the game. Finally there's like little hints and bits in the deeper levels that *something* tried to reach the Banandium Root once before but never came out.

Plus Cranky Kong's rants are talking about K. Rool all this time, though to be fair on that he makes the details vague enough to where he could be talking about Void. But the fact he says to DK that "you know who" stole the bananas it is a bit sus.

I give it a solid 8.5 but kind of agree, around layer 1000 the game the loop was getting stale.

I loved the final fight though and the whole sequence.
