With Goku still being around, I figure Gohan probably would feel motivated to at least somewhat keep up his training. He'd be nowhere near Goku & Vegeta's level of course, but I do think it's conceivable that the difference in strength would be enough for him to defeat Dabura, thus preventing Vegeta ree'ing at Gohan for being an embarrassment, thus preventing Babidi from Majining Vegeta, thus preventing the power supply needed to release Buu.
