You may recall the topic I made where I asked for advice before I started. Well I started.

I just got back to Cobblestone *destroyed version*. Game is pretty fun so far. One q: people recommended turning on stronger monsters but I didn't get that option anywhere? Did I miss it? Now that I can upgrade my gear and forge ahead it's kinda getting to that point where it's ezpz.

Going greatswords on Hero and Knives on Erik for now. Really want to get the Luminary skills though. Is the Steal command worth it in this game for Erik or is it kinda a waste? I don't want to use all those skill points (I know I can reset them) just to get medicinal herbs.

Playing around with the 2D mode is fun. I wish it was a bit more seamless though I understand why it isnt. It would have been difficult to implement

Yeah, you missed it. It's in the list of "Draconian Quest" options you're presented with when you first start the game.
i literally did not even get offered these ._.

I missed the chance to turn it on too, TC, back when I started it years ago. I think you had to press another button to open the prompt.

It is kinda tucked in the corner of the screen when youre first naming your character. Its not surprising it can be missed. Im playing it too currently after having played the original version when it first came out and I forgot it was there myself.

its worth restarting to enable the harder monsters imho. Game is a lot more enjoyable with it on

i'm getting the Red Orb now and holy fuck these monster groups are annoying as hell. They can all cast heal and DO. Groups of 4 enemies are really tough because I can't quite one shot yet

You playing definitive? Theres easy ways to level grind if you want to do such things.

Is there any point in holding on to old equipment or can I sell

You can upgrade gear with the forge so I personally would hold onto at least some of it

But if I get new gear with better base stats isn't it better to just improve that?

Also, what's the point of the banks?

I dont remember exactly how DQ11 works, its possible they arent nearly as needed now, but in most DQ games, when you get wiped out, you lose half your gold and get sent back to the Church, banks were useful in that you didnt lose any money stuck in there.

If you can wait to get your party members back so they can all benefit, but the quick way to level is to go into the first area in the first altar in Tockington and fight either a Fromage Frey or Drackys. Theyll never run. Use the crackshot crossbow to start battles so you dont have to move. Keep defending till hero, jade and Erik are pepped up. Use Hallelujah. Then pep up hero, jade and Sylvando and use electro light. Fight metal slimes if they appear. They usually do. Then watch the levels roll in. Repeat till youre satisfied.
so many of these words are not known to me in the game yet

I just got to the twins who I assume will join the party based on the fact that they are on the cover of the game and also said they would

Also can anyone answer if stealing is worth doing in this game? I'm saving up SP to dual wield with Erik but if stealing is worth it i'll push it off

Sorry I can break that down if youd like but if its your first time, but dont sweat it. I prefer equipping gear that makes enemies drop chests after battle rather than stealing. Bunny tails are an item to go after. The bunnies youve seen have them as rare steal/drop. As a matter of fact I misunderstood where you were at in the game. My bad, just enjoy it.
So what is the puff puff exactly

I don't understand why both Hero and Erik learn the Evac spell when it costs 0 mp, unless there are times when Erik can be in the party but not the Hero

Hero cant cast anything if hes dead, having a backup is useful.

Edit: Oh wait, he gets revived after battle in this game. Its possible it cost MP in the base game, and then they made it free for S.

Also is Sylvando supposed to be gay or just really flamboyant?

Also what do the tiny medals do or w/e they're called

i really didn't find the game very fun. the plot wasn't interesting, the combat was boring, and i didn't like most of the characters.

Theres really only a few places to go and youve been to most of them before. You can check out the island, but theres not a ton going on there.

you should be finding the casino soon. Make sure you spend 5 hours gambling until you can buy all the prizes!
I only got halfway through the game(I'm terrible at finishing games), but I'm pretty sure I had almost every ability unlocked on every character, so you don't have to worry too much about conserving AP

I did a little bit of grinding but nothing crazy
I could see you, but I couldn't hear you You were holding your hat in the breeze Turning away from me In this moment you were stolen...
so did everyone in cobblestone just die

hero dgaf about it it seems

Yeah the lack of emoting from the Hero is one of the things people criticize the game over. I don't remember it feeling so bad in 8, which was a relatively modern looking DQ at the time.
gonna play a bit more today.

i like how each new location is "different country in Europe" and then I just get to yeehaw'sville in Octagonia or whatever the fuck it's called

Fantastic game. Loved it all the way through. Especially the area where you start the throw back side quests and go back to past games.

Honestly, this. It's the most vanilla JRPG I've played in awhile. I went 20 hours into the game until I just gave up because nothing interesting happened nor anything that shaked up the gameplay. I went into it blind because it was highly recommended to me as th best JRPG next to Persona 5 and Octopath Traveler. Probably the only "JRPG" that actually impressed me beyond my expectation was probably Expedition 33.
DI MOLTO!
I too missed the option for Stronger Monsters and I restarted after 6 hours to enable it and don't regret my decision.
The base game was just way too easy.

I've 100% DQ11 twice if you can believe that. Once on the PS4, then another on the Switch. The extras in the Switch version were "ok" I guess.

Very curious when we're finally going to see DQ12, it's been forever.

DQ11 was awesome. It totally scratched the itch that was left behind by the Final Fantasy Series. I wanted an old school turn based RPG not set in current times.

It's kind of long though. It just keeps going and going. You think you're done but you're not.

While I like the 2D mode, it should not be played that way for the first time. It's missing some charm and content.

it's very strongly mediocre, lol

I think it just scratched a lot of people's DQ itch when it came out.

it gets *super* repetitive

Its in Draconian Quests when youre creating a new game. You may as well turn them all on, because they cant be turned on later, but they can be turned off at any point.

o started a Full Draconian play through intending to turn them off when it got too hard, but it became a challenge for me so I still havent. But thats also why I havent finished the game yet.

Such a good qol difference from the base game. I mean you can go do the grunt work yourself if you want, but the game is long enough.

The revival spells being able to miss has got to be one of the shittiest mechanics in the game

If you talk to her before the fight, she gives you a single use cannon. Sylvando fires it at the start of the fight, which hits the squid with confusion and lowers its attack for a few rounds, giving you a little head start on the fight.
