Im all for getting another day off, but I think there are several options in place of Our country was targeted by terrorists on this day and nearly 3,000 people were murdered for a reason for a national holiday

anyway Americans have too few public holidays as it is. Any excuse for them to get more is good
If it was made some sort of national holiday/remembrance day similar to memorial day or something, then it would be pretty easy to argue December 7th (the day Pearl Harbor was attacked) should be one too.
