Putin is going to be attending and they're hosting it in Tiananmen square, both of which would be reason enough for people not to go anyway.

Yeah, that's really not a good look for Japan, especially when only a month ago they wanted everyone to attend their events in memorial of the atomic bombings. (Which to be clear, is not in any way a problem in and of itself; it's the hypocrisy with them now trying to discourage attendance at a memorial event for something they were on the wrong side of, that's a problem.)

Why shouldn't we be anti-WW2 Japan? Especially China of all countries? You aren't entitled to maintain your good reputation after doing horrible things and you're not entitled to have other people ignore what you did.
