AC is such a weird series. It felt like they were building up to a modern day AC starring Desmond, but then they drop it all on a pretty stupid ending and then the modern day stuff got even dumber.It's genuinely one of the most damaging narrative fumbles in a gaming franchise I've ever seen. The games were hit-and-miss since then, but the modern day aspect was damaged beyond repair.
