Fans are the worst thing about being a fan.
Does a game like that really need a remake?
Thank you for taking the time to read this sig.
This sig loves you.
That was the only part of that game I didnt like, so I am fine with it.

I dont need distractions with my pirate simulator, thank you very much.

"RPG ELEMENTS!" is like.

the worst decision AC ever made. It's so fucking bad as a mechanic
Ring the bells that still can ring/Forget your perfect offering/There is a crack in everything/That's how the light gets in."- RIP, Leonard Cohen
On the one hand no present day. On the other, RPG mechanics. Look if I can still sneak and stab dudes like old times I'll give it a look but so far that is a net zero gain.

I quite liked the office sticky note collection modern bit, but the RPG elements are a black flag for Black Flag.

ive never played AC but havent fans always hated the modern day stuff yet it stuck around for along time despite constant complaints
3 things 1. i am female 2. i havea msucle probelm its hard for me to typ well 3.*does her janpuu dance*
The modern day stuff really dropped off a cliff after 3 and people already didn't like it before that, but at least Desmond and crew were characters, I couldn't tell you much about who came after. This is fine.
There was barely a present day in the original ACIV
She took pity on me, horizontally, but most likely because of my band
I dont remember what the present day segments even were in Black Flag
You haven't set a signature for the message boards yet
If only we could cut ubisoft from the modern day

They need to remove all of the tailing missions. I dropped the game, because the mission structure was awful. It felt like every other mission had me slowly following some guy. I loved the game when it leaned into the pirate stuff, but hated it when it leaned into the Assassin's Creed stuff.

I don't really care about the loss of the Abstergo stuff and Black Flag could use some UI updates but please keep the RPG elements away.

Can they just remove all the assassins creed stuff and make a Pirate game with the same gameplay

Honestly, I'd take a fanmade asset rip. Black Flag really hit on something that hasn't been touched again since. I guess I could just replay Black Flag...

It was a real missed opportunity to not rework Skull and Bones into that while it was stuck in dev hell.
AC is my favorite modern franchise. Modern meaning since the HD era. Love the series. The one aspect I never liked was the modern day stuff. Ditch it. Just let me play the entire game with the understanding Im in the Animus.

The modern day bits were the weakest anyway.

Putting the number system in gets a ??? though
Why not go all in?
Since the real world stuff didnt really amounted to anything and it was a major pacing killer for some of the games....I say good riddance.
SEXY SEXY!
I'm of two minds here. I always liked the concept of AC as a whole, which means the modern day plotline too. So I'd be sad if they just got rid of it completely.

On the other hand, the modern day plot stuff in Black Flag and Rogue sucked hard as it was mostly just random, boring office work. Instead of removing it they should replace it with something more interesting.

I liked the modern day stuff up to AC3. I thought it was interesting and it connected the games well but most fans did hate it and thats what made them kill Desmond off.

Every time I have played Black Flag I just play up until I can go to the open ocean and then I stop playing the Assassin nonsense and it just becomes a pirate game. Good fun.

Wasn't the present day stuff in Black Flag like all first person shit and it looked like you worked at some fictional futuristic Ubisoft? Lol

Black Flag was the beginning of the end for the series for me. I know people liked the pirate shit but I absolutely hated it. Fuck that boat.

There must be some incredibly persuasive metrics about these mechanics driving player retention and spend because I've never met a person who enjoyed that shit in their single player games.

Fuck Ubisoft.

I felt like as an AC game it was absolute shit. As a pirate game it was great. It wasnt what I was looking for in AC and was also the start of me not liking the series as much anymore. I did still stick around until Origins where the RPG elements just killed any enjoyment I had with the series.

I like RPG mechanics, it just depends on the game though. I don't care for them in Assassin's Creed.

I actually love the modern day stuff and think it's an important (and now very under served) hook for the whole series but unless they were remaking every game in the series it would be pretty weird to include in what is practically a standalone title now.

They may as well drop 4 from the title while they're at it.

It's 12 years old, which is the amount of time Last of Us declared it okay to make a remake.

EDIT: No, sorry. Last of Us remake came after 10 years. Black Flag's becoming an old geezer!

The funny thing is that the modern day stuff was building up to something, the Sage and Juno stuff, which Ubi straight up off-screened.
If you're gonna hate on a game, make sure you played a good chuck of it first.
The modern plot is terrible so Im totally fine with that. It had potential, but after AC3 it just fucking nosedived off a cliff
Hope rides alone
I definitely agree about 1-3, I like the Abstergo stuff in it. It was beyond pointless in Black Flag though.

The big issue with removing the Modern Day stuff in Black Flag in the remake is that it actually makes some of the historical lore useless, like a couple of the characters (one of the villains and one who's dead before the events of the game as well) in the Caribbean setting both tie in to a character in the modern day stuff.

There's always been a contingent of people who don't like the sci-fi stuff, and there's certainly been games that have done it... poorly, but my interest in the franchise was initially piqued because of the sci-fi framing.
Behold the angry wizard putt-putt-putting away.
Considering the modern day plot of Black Flag was meant to build up Juno as some crazy threat, and then they went and literally offed her in a comic book , maybe this one isn't outlandish.

Among fans it's probably one of, if not the most, popular titles. The only ones that really compete with it fanfare wise already got remakes so I'd doubt they'd do those again.

Because people complained that the modern day stuff took away from them being cool assassin's in old time settings. While some people did like the modern day Ubisoft did what it always does and full bore in the opposite direction instead of meeting somewhere in the middle. They did the same with the Isu stuff in Valhalla and Odyssey and then abandoned it altogether in Shadows.

And they killed they're main big overaching bad off in a comic.

Problem is one of the main characters in the modern day story in black flag has direct ties to one of the past ones thats a whole big reveal at the end of the game. I get cutting the bulk of the nonsense but cutting that takes away part of the story the game was trying to tell

I honestly didnt know either, until this topic. I remember not really minding the Desmond parts in the first one, but they kinda clogged up the game after that. This is one of the AC games I never got around to playing. I skipped it and went to Unity and I fell off after syndicate.
I heard Black Flag is pretty good tho, and a remake sounds like something Id be interested in.
You gonna do somethin' or just stand there and bleed?
i think it was odyssey that i played that i dropped really quickly because of the gear stat stuff. like, you get a level 5 legendary weapon, amazing! then you get a level 7 common weapon with better base stats like 5 minutes later. the "rpg" stuff was annoying as well, because you do scratch damage against enemies higher level than you for no good reason. i think one time i even had the same gear on, then was able to easily defeat an enemy that was taking scratch damage before

That was such a cool twist as well.

I loved AC2, Brotherhood, Revelations and I even liked AC3. I had always been meaning to play black flag but just never got around to it (I did play for like 10 hours or so but something else came along)

the real world shit was always the worst part of the games, it wasnt interesting or fun. So removing it is only a good thing.

I tried one of the newer ones that introduced RPG elements, Origins I think, i played for like 5 mins and noped out cause it was the dumbest shit. What happened to the real assassins creed? Black flag is gonna suck if they make it like origins
They should remove all the modern day stuff from every AC game.
All it ever did for me was to ruin any immersion in the character I was playing and characters in the story whenever it hit.

The biggest problem with the modern day stuff is it's always building up to something huge but it always ended up being a wet fart when they actually got to it.
