Alanis Morrisette's "Ironic" was massively censored and taken off the air during the Bush years because it mentions a plane crash. The Dixie Chicks got massive blacklisted by the media for criticizing Bush.
The former doesn't seem like it matches the latter.
The Alanis one was more of that general overcorrection from 9/11, while the second is directly cancel culture.
Like, Alanis just happened to mention a plane crash at the wrong time, the Dixie Chicks were actively attacked for speaking out. Unless I'm just not remembering the Ironic reaction correctly.
