Is there a reason the Simpsons Arcade Game never came to the SNES or Genesis?
Port would have sucked

Why do you say that?
Konami only had the Simpsons license for arcade and computers, not consoles. Acclaim had it for consoles.

See you next Wednesday.

Yup. Acclaim had the Marvel license and Spider-Man for portables (Sega had the console rights for Spider-Man)

i missed out on the ps3 games.

could've gotten a ps3 at the time i was at the fred meyer but past me decided a wii u was more valuable.

could've gotten a jump on some of the ps3 games a few years earlier (though i had crappy internet during that time).

Or made a new game of the same concept. Call it Simpsons Arcade Game: The Sequel
EA recently (presumably) finally lost the rights to Simpsons games

if this revival of beat 'em ups indie developers are currently spearheading has any luck, like with how there's new TMNT, Scott Pilgrim and Marvel beat 'em ups, someone will make a new Simpsons beat 'em up. I'm not counting on it, but here's hoping.

It might be interesting if a new game had more than 4 playable characters. It could be like the upcoming marvel beatem up. I think you can only have 4 players but there are like 10 or more characters to choose from I believe. Imagine if a new Simpsons game let you be other people besides Bart, Lisa, Homer and Marge. Like Ned Flanders or Comic Book Guy or Smithers
I just want a port to modern consoles, I'd pay $20 for it.

The Simpsons and X-Men were the absolute kings of arcade beat-em-ups back in the day.
Kill 1 man: You are a murderer. Kill 10 men: You are a monster.
Kill 100 men: You are a hero. Kill 10,000 men, you are a conqueror!
I had it on Xbox 360. Was good times online for about a month until it died out.

Another good one is Aliens vs Predator. That game has never gotten a console release though. It was apparently on some kind of Mini console thing though, made by Capcom. Like those mini nes and mini snes things. Except this was dedicated to a collection of Capcom arcade games and it included AvP

It is the only way besides emulation or finding a real arcade machine, to play it

Its really good. Has 4 characters. 2 predators and 2 human marines

hot take: that game isn't that good. i wish it was good but the enemies have too much HP and the hits are all swooshy and the sound effects are grating.

ill still play it.

The thing that sticks out to me the most is that the intro has quotes for each character, but Lisas is Embrace nothingness. When has Lisa ever said this, or believed in anything like this? Really weird.

Isn't she a Buddhist? I know she mentioned that in at least one episode.

Luckily the cabinet is pretty common, and arcades have made a minor comeback. If there is one local to you and they have retro games, there's a high chance they have it.

I believe the game is based almost entirely on season 1 (maybe 2). I don't think Lisa was a Buddhist just yet, just a moody intellectual kid into meditation and stuff.

The quote may have been inspired by the mini golf episode.

Overall, I'd say it's in character for time.

I'm not entirely sure but pretty sure that game predates Lisa converting to Buddhism. I think Lisa becoming Buddhist happened in the late 90s or early 2000s. The arcade game is from like 1991 or something

I think the golf episode is in season 2.

I just think it is hilariously out of character for her, in retrospect.

it also has a lot of references to Life is Hell.
