Firstly, all members of the Trump administration need to be held legally accountable and their crimes exposed to the world. Other countries are perfectly capable of doing this, so theres no reason we cant.

Secondly, ICE needs to be entirely disbanded as it is unsalvageable.

Third, something has to be done about outlets like Fox News pumping out 24/7 right wing propaganda. Bring back the Fairness Doctrine.

What else?

Honestly it kinda seems like our society is so far gone that even if elections were fair, and I don't think they will be, that people wouldn't put democrats in power again in the sort term. It's baffling to me how many people are bending knee to Kirk.

reform the courts, effectively regulate social media, crack down on the billionaire donors instead of indulging them, and embrace economic populism instead of waffling over means testing (we got some 15% of the voting population that bought in on Price of Eggs. Maybe do -anything- about that and communicate it)

they will do none of this. Whatever recovery we get will feel ineffectual and slow, and then people will vote in the first sufficiently charismatic republican to blame it all on immigrants again.

Well this has already been stated but:

1. The Republican party absolutely needs to be dissolved, it's leaders put on trial for their crimes, and they need to be thrown in prison. That this country is being led by actual criminals is madness. No more dicking around with moral high ground bullshit. The GOP will always be a threat as long as they are allowed to exist.

2. Conservative media needs to be kneecapped immediately. Fox News is a blight, and as long as these idiots are able to run their fucking mouths, they'll be able to influence the most biased, insecure, and ignorant people in this country. We don't need anymore bigots being emboldened by them.

3. Focus on education. America is fucking dumb. Anti-vaxxers, religious fanatics, and white nationalists shouldn't be a thing in modern society. Yet somehow these are all still problems that are only likely to get worse in the near future. This country does not value being well-educated at all, and that absolutely plays a huge role in us being where we are.

The only way to solve the problem democratically is by convincing voters that your way is better, and by governing so well that voters never want to let you go.

Like, you can try locking up all the fascists if you want, but so long as 49% of voters agree with them, they'll be back eventually. Unless, of course, you decide to fight fascism with fascism. Honestly, that would probably be easier than governing, once you got into power.

Critical Thinking skills being baked into education is likely to be a very good, but long term solution. Schools in general probably require a drastic overhaul for long term health of the country.

The country would also need a massive paradigm shift towards intelligence in general. But I'm not sure what the solution there is. We need to teach people the education is a virtue, but without creating the kind of elitism that shows up in countries where education actually is a priority.

But regardless. Those are long term plans. And long term plans mean little in the face of a fascist willing to EO his way past any laws he wants to corrode anything inconvenient to his agenda. They're good ideas, but I dunno if it'll save anything unless we deal with the root of the problem first.

Basically everything SAIYAN said.

My ideal solution?
Nuremberg trial the eff out of Trump and everyone associated with him and enabling him (even justices).
Regulate the Supreme Court: term limits, and insta-removal for clearly violating the constitution (with jail time)
Codify voting rights and women's rights
Make a sensible path to citizenship
Wipe out student debt (yep, a bailout!)
Wipe out medical debt
Buttress Medicaid and Social Security
Outlaw gerrymandering
Outlaw and dissolve the electoral college and add constitutional amendment that it can never return.
Regulate broadcast media (buh-bye Fox News et. al)
Make public university, college, community college/vocational school free.
Outlaw secular education
Crackdown on white nationalists and fascists
Tax the eff out of the oligarchy class and outlaw on political donating/spending
Mandatory maternal and paternity leave
Universal childcare
Universal healthcare
Create a New Deal (that focuses on new industry, training, climate change and etc.)
Fair housing and modernization of zoning laws (but strict safety measures so people are not exploited)
Create a housing agency that regulates housing, especially landlords and rents.
Get rid of first past the post
Outlaw billionaires and any thing above. Funds need to be invested in people (especially, education)
Regulate data privacy laws so that they cannot be sold and traded (similar to our allies)
Regulate A.I. and social media (no propaganda false information)
Make the CDC, EPA, NWS, HHS and all public health and weather institutions independent like the Fed.
Natl. Labor Board also should be independent and should be tasked with bringing back strong unions
Make vaccines mandatory for minors (unless the minor cannot for a legitimate health issue) (with negligent parents being served serious jail time)
Re-hire all federal workers who unjustly lost their jobs.
And yeah, this was written via stream of consciousness and is in no way an exhaustive list...

The only realistic answer thus far in this topic is post 6.

Even if a Dem wins, Trump has left lasting damage for years to come even after hes gone. So like always, the next Dem who wins is going to have unrealistic expectations and impossible standards placed on them. To no surprise they won't be able to meet those demands, and what small progress that dem makes to reverse the damages "won't be good enough." So yet again enough people dont vote for Dems again OR spend a lot of time convincing others to why bother because, the usuals will claim "dems wanted x bad thing."

The problems are here to stay as long as we have people rationalizing why both sides bad, nothing is ever good enough, holding Dems to a higher standard than Republicans, and the assumption people are aware Republicans are doing when places like Fox spins narratives.

Replace separation of church and state with church has no authority or influence over state. (Obviously that applies to all religions - or their buildings - in theory, but lets be honest, at least right now theres only one religion thats an actual problem, and they have churches.)

Judging Democrats' handling of previous fascist like administrations (Bush,Trump), they won't do a thing. "This is a time for healing and unity" and all that crap. With how some of the leadership acts, they still haven't learned a thing.

They had their chance to stop Trump forever and they blew it due to their stupidity, cowardice, or whatever was going through their heads at the time.
