I've been furloughed for 6 months now from my current job, but I've been treating it as a lay off, since the chances of me coming back is really unlikely at this point.
Anyways, I have an interview in my field for a role on Friday for a contract role. Thing is, its basically half of my salary of my last job (that I'm currently furloughed), if I include benefits. Maybe even less., and it's basically a step down or two in title. I'll likely know almost right away with an offer too. Money wise, I'm good for a year (though I'm dipping into my savings), but of course it doesn't hurt to have money.
I'm just worried that if I do get the position and accept it, it's gonna be tough to find another job (scheduling interviews) while I'm there, and it's gonna put it at risk too. This is just me overthinking as well, 6 months from now if I'm in interviews and reference this job in my resume, I could have less leverage in negotiating pay because my most recent role would be 2 steps down my position in title.
I'm wondering if I should not take this role and keep applying for a better role, or accept it for now and potentially risk looking for a job still. Each decision has consequences
Less is more. Everything you want, isn't everything you need.
