PS4 looks great
I'm busy playing CS2, hope you folks enjoy the remake! Let me know if there's any cool fall forwards added.

As I've been telling a buddy of mine, they really need to have Elie cameo in the Sky trilogy seeing as how she's traveled and knows a lot of the politicians in Zemuria.
Time is a funny thing, you know? I guess in the big picture of my life, you were only a blip. But oftentimes, those "blips" make the biggest impacts.
I started it last night with the demo and my copy is supposed to arrive today

That would be really cool! I think any extra stuff they throw in would be so neat

Finished the demo on Nightmare late last night, bought the game as soon as I got up this morning. I did load up my clear save and go through the scenes until I had control just to check if I missed anything in the Prologue, will have to double check that when I actually have time to play.

Hopefully it will still let me hang around the Rolent area to try and farm the Shiny Pom accessories and buy some stuff before leaving.

I should add that this is my first Trails game, so Im hyped to finally get into this series.

if you beat this first entry are you going to play the OG SC? or are you just going to wait until the Sky trilogy is remade?

Ill wait. The remake of SC is already confirmed. Im sure theyll remake the 3rd, Zero, and Azure as well.

I figure waiting between will keep me from burning out anyway.

Yea. I love that the Carnelia books get a map marker now. And even if you miss them, they show up in shops to buy. It's also really weird seeing U-Materials in Sky.

Only complaint so far is how Gung-ho kinda ignored a lot of the existing localized names and terms. I get a little eye twitch every time they pronounce Liberl how they do here.

i will play the sky remakes eventually but i dont want to start now and get burned out before trails beyond the horizon
I haven't played a single game in the series, but I downloaded the demo and got to the end of the Prologue (at least, I think it's the end; the father got a job offer and left his kids to their own devices). I kind of like it, though I wish in battle you could switch back to the action gameplay after going into the turn-based gameplay.

Thats not the end, youll know its the end when it says youre done and shows you another trailer.

I also wish you could switch back to action based, but what really bugs me is that for whatever reason, in the action battle you can press Start and reload your save, but in the turn-based battle you cant. Thats really annoying when youre playing on Nightmare, and its my only gripe with the game so far.

Looked it up because I was curious, and he did sound familiar. Michael Allan Schneider

Not Van, and also nothing I would have heard.

Anelace though is voiced by Cassandra Lee Morris who also voices Fie, and I very clearly heard that in her voice.

Aw I love Cassandra. Thats awesome

Finished the prologue. Josette was pretty tough because she used the group attack off rip and then one of the other guys got a KO and it took me a while to recover from that

Also ... what is the usage of the "Overdrive" mechanic? What is the frequency/activation for it? It doesn't really explain it in the game at all lol

My copy still hasn't shipped.

Also, they better be remaking the whole trilogy, especially 3rd. That's "The Gap" that is keeping me from playing any of the later games. And it MUST get a physical copy.

2nd is already confirmed. Wouldn't make much sense to do 1 and 2 and skip 3 considering like 80% of the assets for 3 are recycled. That said, of the all the Trails games, it is easily the most skippable. There's like one important plot point that isn't covered super well in other games, the rest is either not relevant, or explained again when it is relevant.

Yeah.

The 3rd Sky game is the only one I haven't played. I did a brief look into the story with a Youtube video, but I didn't really feel like I was missing anything when playing the Erebonia and Crossbell arcs.

For anyone interested in trophies, it's a good opportunity to get the trophy for killing 8 enemies at once.

Also the 3.0 strategy rating and some others. Honestly beating the boss of the Prologue on Nightmare may require having all the Quartz you get from these achievement rewards.

Just started playing and it's really good. Then I looked up the series and there's so many games. Woah. I'm guessing they're going to remake the other liberl games, but what about the rest? Are they separate, stand alone stories? Do the crossbell or erebonia games hold up?

Each arc is mainly its own story but they're all part of a whole with returning characters and continuing plot threads.

Crossbell's 2d but the art is really good and the gameplay is more modern than Sky's, plus it also has voice acting (though only japanese voices). One thing is that sidequests aren't marked so you can easily miss hidden ones

Cold Steel 1/2 are probably the ones that have aged the worst due to being Vita games so the graphics are pretty janky, but that's about it, plus these ones are the first to get a proper dub

3/4 introduce more map markers and stuff like that as QoL features, and this is the point where things are really modern

Daybreak (Calvard Arc) is where the action/turn based hybrid starts, if you're wondering

3rd's mostly setup for them plus some closure to the Sky cast. It's technically not necessary but I feel it's the point where the series' overarching plot starts opening up and becoming more clear.

If I had to compare it to OP it'd be the Jaya arc where you get introduced to a lot of the major players and concepts even if they won't do much just yet

3rd is the best as a game, especially with the extra characters (even though XSeed backported some of them at the end of SC which I won't be surprised doesn't happen in the SC remake)
I will rule the world, and find that truly good cup of coffee.

I would say the gameplay is pretty similar across all the arcs so if you like the gameplay here you'll probably like it in the other arcs.

This is going to be really unpopular to say (and this is not necessarily me recommending this course of action!) but you can play any arc on its own. Things that need to be explained get explained well enough. It's just extra special and fun and giggly if you've played the previous arcs first. Honestly I felt like Daybreak was really bad about this in particular because they hint at characters and you already know who they are if you've played the other games so if you haven't played those games those scenes probably seem goofy as fuck
