Excellent question. I thought that this movie was supposed to come after Mando Season 4. From what I've gathered though, it will actually replace Mando Season 4, although this isn't 100% confirmed yet.

Also, kinda tangential, but I'm still annoyed how quickly the show writers reunited Mando and Grogu after Season 2. I only stared watching the show after Season 3 released and went from the amazing closure to that relationship in Season 2 that should have ended with Grogu training to be a Jedi in the long-term to somehow Mando and Grogu ending up back together in Season 3 with zero explanation and in a cute fashion learning to use Mandolorian weapons... Just wut? Did some research and found out Mando highjacked the latter episodes of the panned Boba Fett show and they reunited in that. The show runners reunited them clearly way too soon when Mando alone should have helped Fett...and the fact Luke said "no no" to attachments to drive Grogu away shows Disney still doesn't get Luke. He didn't grow up in a Jedi Temple. He grew up on a desert planet and formed many attachments there and later as a part of the rebellion. Ay caramba...

I digress. Still, I hope that the movie is great and the future Thrawn movie is great. Would go a long way to getting the bad taste of the sequels out of people's mouths. Plus, it has been a long time since the last Star Wars movie was released.

I am excited for the return of Star Wars to the big screen and the traditional May release after the Sequels and Rogue One were December releases.

It looks very entertaining and the effects are great, I havent watched any of the Mandalorian but Grogu is cute or whatever.

Too bad I cancelled Disney. Maybe theyll do the right thing and earn my business back by then.
Looked fun to me. Hopefully it brings things back on track after the unsatisfying BoBF/Mando Season 3 run.

What you have in the tag is something that has fascinated me since it happened. Book of Boba Fett becoming an entirely different show mid-run, and being such a big part of a different show, is the strangest decision for a TV show I have ever seen. My Mom hated BOB and was not watching, and I had to let her know which episodes she had to watch to make The Mandalorian make sense. I am sure others were confused too. It was such a weird choice. Did they just see how terrible the start of BOB was and just decide to fill the remaining episodes with Mando instead?

Your criticism of Mando and Grogu reuniting so soon is one I hear a lot. I get it, but I am not sure I agree with it. Their parting was so well done, and it does kind of cheapen it. But it is a totally different show without them together, and I didnt think there was any chance it would last a long time.

I am looking forward to the movie, but I am furious at Disney. I am not sure where I will be by 2026.

My overall feelings are simply meh here.

Lately its been getting harder and harder for me to care for a franchise being completely hard carried by the prequel era. Avoids the OG era like the plague and likely wont ever touch the sequel for obvious reasons.

And even if they did acknowledge the OG era.none of it will never matter or amount to anything in the long run. So who cares?

Wish they put more thought into that title.

Sounds more like a buddy cop than the usual Star Wars-y stuff

I agree. If they wanted to keep The Mandalorian and Grogu in the title, they could've done something like the A Star Wars Story thing. For example:

Yeah it's kinda silly how BoBF became Mando Season 2.5 halfway through

I often wonder if that was the plan from the start or if they just couldn't get a solid storyline together for a full BF season and decided to shove Mando in there so people would continue watching it. I did like that they teamed up at the end but still wish they would've found a better way to give BF the show he deserved.

I just wonder if we are getting the quality of S1,S2 in this movie ...or the rushed production value of S3.

So far after this trailer, its echoes S3 for me. Im setting the bar low here though. This where the left me for this movie. Hope it all comes together & brings some momentum to ST era future shows & movies or whatever

Andor is fucking amazing, exactly what I've been looking for from Star Wars (a look at lower-level shit in the empire.)

I'm about to watch episide 10 and am hooked.

Also, Star Wars shouldn't be focusing on movies any more. The world is much better set up for episodic content like a series.

I feel like I've seen plenty of content from during the original trilogy though. Andor takes place like right before A New Hope, I believe most of Bad Batch is during the reign of the Galactic Empire and the Jedi games are during that era as well
I have nothing else to say
A time period that should be explored and has a lot of room for content is the 10 year gap between The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones.

I actually thought it was a perfect capstone for the character: after 40 years we finally have cinematic proof that Boba Fett is not as cool a character as everyone made him out to be, lol.

Yeah, I feel like the only thing we've seen from that time period is Count Dooku's fall to the dark-side from Tales of the Jedi.

But beyond that, it feels like basically nothing happened in the 10 years between Maul killing Qui-Gon and the start of AotC

You nailed. It just boggles my mind they would have the reunion on a side show and think that would be okay. Also sad we didn't get more of Mando Season 2 Boba who was cool. Just a terrible mayor/crime lord that doesn't commit any crime.

I think that is fair. The fact it is all twisted with an incorrect interpretation of Luke (his attachment/love for his father was what defeated the Sith, not the sterile way pre-Order 66 Jedi were supposed to act) probably isn't helping things. Granted, the reunion probably should have waited until Mando Season 3 either way. Getting the great Season 2 ending only to see the two of them together again in Season 3's opening is one of my biggest WTF moments I have ever had.

I just didn't like his (Boba's) portrayal at all. He went from being cool as can be in Mando Season 2 and immediately became lame in his own show. Reminds me of how MCU's Black Panther was cool as can be in Civil War and was out shown by every other character in his own movie and also was honestly kind of lame as well.

Also not helping matters is the angle where he doesn't care about other Mandalorians and didn't help his people in Season 3.

And I know people (some people anyway) hate Legends being brought up, but I loved how he was handled during the Vong War. Basically...

After becoming Mandalore (leader), Boba Fett initially deceived the Yuuzhan Vong by aligning the Mandalorians with them, under the condition that Mandalorian space would remain untouched. This alliance was a strategic ruse; Fett secretly instructed his people to act as covert saboteurs and intelligence gatherers, passing valuable information to the New Republic.

When the Yuuzhan Vong uncovered Fett's deception, they launched a full-scale assault on Mandalore. Despite the overwhelming force, the Mandalorians, under Fett's command, utilized underground tunnels and their formidable combat skills to engage the invaders. At Bralsin, they clashed with over a thousand Yuuzhan Vong warriors, inflicting significant casualties. Although the planet suffered immense damage and nearly one and a half million Mandalorians perished, the Mandalorians succeeded in driving the Yuuzhan Vong off their world, becoming the only people in the galaxy to defeat the invaders independently (a HUGE feat). Keep in mind. The Vong successfully invaded and terraformed Coruscant.

Plus, his interactions with Jaina were great.

He was a leader of his people and was a hero who stood up to a group more bloodthirsty and monstrous than the Sith.

On the other hand, the way Boba has been handled in recent work is such a letdown in comparison.

There were a couple of comic miniseries, but not much else that I can think of. It was a perfect spot for an ongoing series in comics too. However, Marvel has avoided the era and spent several years doing content in between The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, which is only around 1 year in universe. What was extremely surprising is that the War of the Bounty Hunters storyline and the Bounty Hunters comic (which ran for 42 issues) did not include Mando, IG-11, or Fennic Shand at any point, which was surprising.

I'd be open to watching this. The three Mando seasons were all great imo. At worst S2 had its hiccups because of the fanservice, but it wasn't as nearly as much of a hindrance as it was in Rogue One.
I don't intend to spend any more money on Disney though.
